I can't see Jones hurting Usyk.

Usyk wouldn't respect his power once he got comfortable.

Look what southpaw Denis Lebedev did to him, Usyk is bigger, stronger, faster, it's harder, and is better at everything than Denis.

Yeah.... I'm very ****ing serious. And yeah, I know RJJ was shot, but still, Usyk would dominate any version of him.

You would simply have to favour Usyk.

He’s got sublime skills, great speed, decent power, and he’d have got height and reach advantages.

So he would simply have to be heavily favoured.

However, looking from Usyk’ perspective, he has simply never seen anyone with Roy’s gifts before. Nobody with Roy’s hand and foot speed. Nobody with that unorthodox style before.

So nobody can say for sure that he’d have dominated Roy. It could have been a chess match, where they both went feint for feint.

We can’t just assume that Usyk would easily have won, based on the skewed logic that he was better than everybody who beat Roy.

    Your post was silly.

Yes, of course Usyk was better than Lebedev. He’s completely on another level.

However, Usyk wouldn’t have been facing the version of Roy who fought Lebedev. So then it’s just a pointless observation.

The version of Roy who fought Ruiz was 34.

The version of Roy who fought Lebedev didn’t even resemble that version.

The version of Roy who Lebedev fought had balance issues. His old legs simply weren’t there. It was just horrible to watch. He was 42 years old. He was slow, with no reflexes. He’d been out a year due to a knee operation. And he was only fighting there, simply because he could no longer fight at LHW, as he could no longer do roadwork. His whole CW quest gave him a goal. But the truth is, he simply had no choice.

Although Lebedev wasn’t great, he was actually a decent CW. And apart from that very late knockout, Roy was winning that fight. Roy would probably have won a decision had he not have been caught at the last moment. So it actually puts into perspective how good the version of Roy was who fought Ruiz. Because IMHO, Lebedev didn’t even fight a version of Roy who was a 50% version of the Ruiz version.

Off topic, I’d have liked to have seen Chris Byrd fight Usyk. That would have been very intriguing to me.

I wonder if Jones struggles, all else being equal, with big southpaws? He sure didn’t look good against Tarver, ever. Dropped by Lou De Valle etc. I think Jones drops a wid-ish decision.

Usyk is bigger, stronger, hit's harder than anybody Jones ever fought.

Usyk would have toyed with any of Roy`s opponents.

You can add Roy being shot during that fight, but the point is Usyk would be a tougher opponent for Roy than anybody Roy has fought, Usyk might not be as strong as Ruiz was but he`s stronger and hits harder than all Roy`s other opponents and despite Roy being too old when he fought Denis, that fact remains that even a peak Roy never met an opponent as formidable as Usyk in many ways and Dell Valle dropped Roy being a southpaw at 168.

Usyk might look a bit ragged early on while he's finding his rhythm, but after around round four or so he begins to up the heat and Roy starts to come apart Calzaghe style.

Obviously I meant Roy coming apart against Calzaghe.

Okay, but didn`t land much v Joe early on despite Joe taking a few rounds to get going, Usyk would be all over Roy from the start with his in and out style and high guard.
