He's already established himself as a great, though, and his odds of winning this fight aren't very good. He just can't sustain pace. And every time he gets hit, he increases his chances of getting severe brain damage. It just doesn't seem worth it for someone who has all the money and legacy he'll ever need.
He may well be sensationalising things a bit, in terms of the Pavlik match up; but he suffers from Parkinson's himself... I don't think he would indirectly use it as a means to promote a fight.

I don't know about that. You can always enhance your legacy and i don't know how much money Hopkins has but he ain't even close to DLH or PBF territory. I'm sure he won't mind another 5 million or so just to be safe.

I agree with you 100%, if this was his feelings about wat he called a close friend, this shouldve been said 2 bernard in priv8. no need 2 put this out in the public
If Roach is serious about this and it's not some elaborate plot then it could be Roach's last attempt to disuade Hopkins from fighting on. He's spoken to him privately, Bernard has gone against his advise, so he's trying to make it public in order to shame Hopkins into it. Maybe. I still think that Roach is making the odds longer so he can clean up at the bookies!
