They dont have too.......the other camp is supposed to have a representative there to watch the wrapping.....so if the inspector catches something being done illegal like using plaster, there's a camp representative there to witness that....... In this case with MAB, Roach is claiming that the wraps being used to wrap MAB's hands was the type used to make casts....... When Richardson objected to Margarito's wraps, it was Richardson (Mosley's trainer) who confiscated the wraps and gave them to Mosley's lawyer...... It seems baffling to me that the California inspectors let the Mosley camp walk off with the said illegal handwraps. Had the Mosley camp not walked off with the wraps, I'm wondering if the California inspector would have done anything to confiscate them. ......had they not, more than likely the Margarito camp would have quickly disposed of them. I'm wondering now that when Roach caught MAB being wrapped illegally, the stupid Texas commision did'nt do anything to confiscate the wraps because Roach did'nt ask them too.......because remember now, it was Richardson and not the California commision who actually confiscated Margarito's wraps. Sad but true, boxing has hoards of incompetent athletic commisions supervising their sport!:-(
True. It is also possible that homecourt influence has something to do with it. I remember it being mentioned before the fight, but was easily covered by different topics regarding the fight...They didnt want to talk about this.
i remember there being 2 commentators, the other one was the one who said that Roach complained to the commission about the wrappings and MAB's team saying they're doing it right. But when the organizations representative checked it, he told them it was wrong and they had to do it all over again. Thus the delay. Then the other guy suddenly shifted the topic and went on to discussing the upcoming fight. That incident was never brought up again. It was something i thought that happened all the time. Never occurred to me until the time when it happened to Margo. I was even one of those saying why should he (margo) get punished when they found out before the fight, and that they were able to correct it before hand. (all the time i was thinking of that MAB incident.) But then people started voicing out their opinions and i realized that they were right in punishing Margo since it would have ruined somebody elses career if he got away with it.
It was shown here at delayed telecast, as Pac wasnt that famous here then. it was HBO, shown here thru Solar sports. I've been looking for the coverage for some time now and cant find it on the internet. I always find the ones where they are already on the ring.
HBO would be one not to probe if it came to MAB and wrongdoing.......they just loved MAB......as you know, HBO was all over what transpired in the Margarito dressing rooms as they hated that Margarito beatdown another HBO fighter they had high hopes would give them continued high profile fights.
i figured, but yeah, sometimes its just hard for me to accept things like this, im relatively new being a fan, started watching only after Tyson was beaten by Buster, and went on to watch mainly the main events, then the undercards, but didt really even entered my mind as to how "Organizations" can allow or even purposely manipulate boxing which is an an organized sport. Still hoping this will change tho!
Divac, you're a clown. Barrera didn't have any ilegal handwraps, Roach is just a leach. When he goes a week without being in the media spotlight, he gets withdrawal. HBO loves Barrera, you love Marquez, but Barrera was a 20 year veteren who was never proven to have cheated with illegal handwrapping. End of story. Clown. :verysad
WOW!! Roach says something and you quickly believe him??? Do you really believe if this was true Roach would have allow it??? Roach is talking a lot of **** lately. I guess he is helping to sell fights. As Puerto Rican, I am not too interested on defending mexican fighters. But I think this is bull****.
I know Roach commented on the way Barrera had tapes on his gloves so much near his knuckles that made the padding unnaturally harder. This was in the Juarez fight, I just don't know if it was the first or the rematch. Of course when Roach made the comment I think they were already preparing for Pacquiao-Barrera II, if I remember it correctly.
