To make it more interesting the winner should get 70% and the loser 30%. DLH is too greedy for that though.

I think you are being quite cynical there.

I think Roach trully believes Pac can beat DLH. I also believe it will be alot closer than most are saying.

    Also from the article:

Although Roach has been pushing the fight since Pacquiao annihilated David Diaz to win a lightweight title June 28, he said it irritates him that people think he's only doing so because he would also be in line for a huge payday.

But Roach has an answer for those critics.

"I've gotten some flak from people who say I am only doing this for the money," he said. "But I will train Manny for free if we lose. If we lose, Manny doesn't have to pay me a dime, that's how confident I am that we beat De La Hoya.

it's a clever idea but i still don't want pac to fight odhl. odlh is soooooo big compared to PAC.

If pac can hurt odlh is high questionable
If odlh can hurt pac - no brainer odlh can hurt pac

    END of STORY

    1. DLH's history with bad judging should prevent such a scenarion from happening.

    2. If Pac did go for this crazy scheme it should be for no less than the 40% that he wanted...that's the only way it would make sense to fight for his money. You don't fight for what Oscar concedes, you fight for what you are asking for...

    Roach still appears the scoundrel.

Oscar can manipulate the judges ???

The Sturm decision was incompetence, not corruption.

If he could manipulate judges, don't you think he would have got the correct decision against Tito ?

And wouldn't he have won the Mosley rematch ?

Come to think of it, he wouldn't have needed the rematch as he would have had the judges give him the W the first time around !

Roach was confident that Lacy was going to KO Calzaghe.

When he got that wrong, He predicted that BHop would whup Joe.

Just because Freddie says something's gonna happen doesn't mean it will.

I like the idea. Let them fight if they both want to. Oscar is being a little ***** by fighting somebody a lot smaller than him though, but if/ when he wins that's what he'll be remembered for.
I honestly see this a win/ win for Pac. Think about it...He fights De la hoya, and even at 30% gets a HUGE payday, he gets a lot more publicity, and even if he loses..Everyone will see it as a joke loss, and they never gave Pac a chance anyways so it doesn't matter. If by some grace of God he'd win though that would probably be one of the biggest upsets in boxing history!
Of course the only con is he might get hurt or something, but I'm sure he'll be alright. He's been in some wars, take plenty of punishment, and knows what he's geting himself in to.
Besides, I'd rather have somebody like Mike Tyson knock me out with ONE punch than to have somebody like Margarito beat the **** out of me for 12 rounds. To be in battles that Pac has been in (Like against JMM) it takes a lot more out of you than if you would just have been knocked out in the first!

The Roach idea makes sense in a perfect world......but we are far from living in a perfect world....

Boxing is already corrupt to the bone.....
....this idea of having a fighter get more money for winning, will lend itself for even further corruption, and certain higher ups in the orginizations getting paid under the table in exchange for preferential treatment.
It already goes on now, imagine under these circumstances!

This idea corrupts boxing to it's bone marrow!

Can you imagine these kind of winner gets more arrangements during an obvious robbery????? It would be pandomonium.

These kinds of arrangements are a bad idea to a sport that already has an image of corruptness!

    Bad idea!!!

Why is it that Oscar can't just do right by Manny ..Oscar has made more than enough money in this sport is it really too much to ask for a 60/40 split ?
