There simply isn't anything physical that you can too to better punch resistance. Stronger legs will help his balance but will not stop him getting hurt. Interestingly in Calzaghe's autobiography he said that you can prepare for the impact of punches by mentally preparing before hand, bracing yourself to be hit hard and going over an imaginary scenario in your head where you take the punch but are unaffected. He did this prior to the Lacy fight and it seems to work a treat in the first round where he gets whacked fluch and doesn't flinch. However, whether Khan has the mental strength succeed with this type of approach I very much doubt.
It will have next to no effect at all; his punch resistance will forever be poor no matter what he does. I think he's just genetically predisposed to having a very frail and nimble body; kinda like the opposite of Tyson. I'm not sure stepping up would help; sure he'd have less trouble making weight and would probably feel a lot better for it but he'd be facing some even harder punchers up there, which spells disaster. As an aside, I dont think he's 5'10 at all.
Khan is never going to have a strong chin but his offence has always been good , the best they can do is improve his defence and he can still prbably achieve. Still hate this Barrera fight tho !
Theres not a great you can do to improve a chin as bad as Khans, he best bet is to work on his defense.
Yes,. but this was so obvious right from the very moment he signed with Warren and chose Harrison as a trainer. I said so at the time. At least now he is doing things the right way
If Michael Gomez managed to trouble Khan, I think there's a lot to suggest MAB may not be a walk in the park for the Bolton prodigy.
I've yet to see Khan fight with a style he himself is comfortable with. Back in the days when he was fighting Gomez and Drilzane etc he was dancing around all over the place but never really controlled what he was doing. There were positive signs of improvement here in the last fight and he'll need everything working perfectly in sync if he's going to be able to compete at a higher level. He needs plans, and be confident in himself pulling them off in the ring. Freddie Roach is a great guy to teach him this stuff.
Whatever happens he's in a better place now. If over the next couple of fights there's no real improvement then we know it's not the trainers or promotion, it's Khan.
nothing will help amirs chin. thicker legs will help his balance and a stronger neck will lessen the impact a bit along with head movement but his brain is vulnerable to being rattled which causes it to shut down. barrera is bound to catch him out and ko him. this fight has nearly sold out already. alot of people want to see amir get ko'd.
Really why? I thought they were going to watch a promising British boxer fight a Mexican legend...and hopefully win
Or watch a light welter beating up on whats left of a legendary Superbantam / Feather and then classing himself with Morales and Pacquiao. Puuhhleeeeese ! I'd love to think this was a real fight but Warren and Roach must know Barrera is done , you dont jump from ***an to Barrera in one fight if it was the real Barrera
