If Maidana gave him hassles, Duran will open a can of whoopass.

Mayweather's best bet is for Duran to bloat up partying between fights and come in drained and unmotivated.

 

If you can't beat Floyd by swarming like Cotto, Maidana and Dela Joya tried when Floyd goes defensive then you aren't going to outpoint him. However, Floyd did lose to Castillo in the first fight. So he isn't unbeatable. Also, Floyd's father Mayweather Senior said that the Delajoya fight could have been decided differently depending on judge viewpoint. Some say that Maidana did enough to win. So his unbeaten record is a bit controversial. As for Duran, no, I don't see him as able to get through Mayweather's tactics. Same scenario as the Duran/Leanard2 ad Duran vs Benitez.

If it's the best Duran v the best Mayweather then I go with Duran 10 times out of 10 at any weight.

 

Duran beats the hell out of him... Maidana and Castillo aren't anywhere near the level of fighter Duran was, not to mention Duran proved himself against bigger and better fighters than Mayweather.. See Maidana I... Except it would much, much worse for Mayweather.

 

Under the assumption that both guys are at their best, Duran wins at 135 and 140 pretty easily. Floyd makes it closer at 147 and it's even closer to 50/50 at 154.

 

Floyd would have a hard time going the distance at 135 pounds, the Duran who beat Sugar Ray Leonard knocks Floyd out inside 10 at 147. 2 different level fighters

 

Lightweight Duran..

Duran was a nasty little savage, I think he would have too much savage for Mayweather, I'm not saying he would win easily but he would win.

 

Mayweather by unanimous decision. Duran couldn't deal with slick fighters. SRL and Benitez played with him and so would Mayweather.

 

Duran dominates Floyd at LW or WW, at LW I think
he stops Floyd. At WW it's a lopsided win.

Agreed, these people who live in this fantasy world where every fighter back in the day were boxing Gods who could beat any modern fighter. Duran for the most part of his early career didn't fight anybody. Up until he fought Buchanan who did he fight? Then he lost to a guy like Esteban De Jesus . Then he went on a tear fighting joke fighters until he fought Leonard.

Floyd would pick him apart and make him quit like he did against Leonard.
