Duran. Pac would be competitive though. It would be a war but Pac's only shot would be Duran not being prepared or if he took him lightly. But if it was a built up mega fight Duran would win going to the body and keeping Pac going backwards off balance.

    Victor or Carlos?

    If it's the former:

If it's the latter: I definitely think he lasts the distance, and gives Duran a hell of a run for his money at that. One of the all time great match-ups at Lightweight.

Maybe you're right. Certainly strength eise Duran has a big edge but for pure boxing Marquez is the boxer of the the 2. Also why do people on here almost seem afraid to say the Duran loses to a modern fighter.

:huh Duran was a defensive great. His ability to slip and roll shots, while being as aggressive as he was, is legendary. FAR, FAR, FAR better than Marquez is defensively. Not even a comparison.

Pacquiao doesn't have the type of boxing skills to frustrate Duran either. He doesn't have great backfoot outboxing skills, he doesn't have a great jab, and he's not great in the pocket. Not to mention his leaky defense, which is far less advanced than Duran, who had an innate sense of slipping incoming shots and positioning. Duran's going to blast Pacquiao with right hands from range, make him react with every feint, and go to work on Pacquiao when he forces him to the ropes or makes him fight on the inside. Pacquiao might win a round, but he's fighting somebody who's just in another league (which is saying something because Pac is a great fighter).

I wouldn't even favor Pacquiao over Carlos Palomino. I think he gets chopped down to the body in that one. Palomino was twice as good as Cotto and Margarito at his best.

It's not that they're afraid, it's that Duran was that good.

It's nothing to do with fear, it's to do with logic. Duran was better than any fighter in the world today, without question. He's one of the sport's upper echelon all time greats. A top 10 pound for pound fighter, and arguably the best we have on film in his prime. If you consider that fear or bias, then so be it. I've seen a lot of fighters and a lot of fights, and I've never seen anyone better than a prime Duran.

And to be clear, I'm not simply talking about his tenacity, aggression, etc. I'm talking about his skills.

What a foolish thread. Pac can't even handle Marquez what in the hell would he do to Duran. Duran would knock him the hell out, even at a catch weight (which you know they would ask for). At one time I thought this was intriging, but after Marquez handled him so well there is no doubt, Duran crushes him. Duran can box, brawl, fight inside, he can do it all. Manny clearly has trouble with boxers.

duran is on another level, i'd say he beats pac with ease with a 8-4 type decision. Can't say if he stops pac though, haven't seen pac get stop since his early days.

only modern fighter that possibly beats duran is floyd
