There is so much here wrong with this post. You had time to delete and go learn who Duran was at lightweight. Yet this post sits here. An embarrassment.

Roberto Duran at 135 pounds was relentless, the pace will wear on Pernell and Duran will start getting to him. Duran by decision or late TKO

Pernell by UD in what would be a surprisingly easy fight. After the fight Duran says he didn't train and was partying for weeks before the fight.

    Two critical questions:
    (1) Would Duran come out of his Panama backyard to fight Pete?
    (2) Duran is a proven 15 rd fighter, Whitaker never fought at 15 rd scheduled Title fights.

Going with Duran by 14th rd TKO, but slightly behind in fight at the time of stoppage.

Whilst a part of me agrees with this, there is another that is a fan of both and could easily write the script of how Pete beats Duran.

As relentless as Duran was, he would have never faced somebody as accomplished from the southpaw stance, with his own excellent footspeed, excellent jab and much underrated combination punching on the inside and mid-range. Duran doesn't steamroll Whitaker! He has to jab, time, feint, counter and catch Whitaker anytime that he makes the mistake of crossing his feet.

For taking the fight to Pete and scored by judges in the 70s or 80s, Duran probably wins this fight 8 - 7 or 9 - 6 in a 15 round fight.

Tito couldn't KO a coked-up Pete and yes, I know that Duran is superior to Tito in many ways, but he could hit and that Pete was a bargain bucket version of the guy that proved himself as an elite ATG. I don't see how Duran TKOs Pete - his durability only sees him KO'd or TKO'd by true one-hitter quitters for me. Pete arguably is stopped by nobody at LW and only is stopped at WW.

Duran too skilled and too slick at 135. Wide decision win with a KD late.

Duran by controversial decision. This fight would be very close and difficult to score.

LOL. Duran would have to be in top shape just to make the weight.

Pernell could make anyone look bad, but he has to be very careful with Duran who is much quicker than Chavez.

stylistically I think Pernell has a great chance to beat duran by decision. He would counter him and slip his punches. No one Duran fought at lightweight compared to Pernell Whitaker.

No one Pea fought compared to a prime Duran. Roberto's slickness is being undersold.
