Don't be a dolt all your life. He has a point. There's a reason grandpa's world over still talk of Dempsey as being untouchable, while very few mention Walcott.
He actually fought a fair number of top contenders - just not at middleweight. He really would've been best suited for a jr. middle division had it existed in his time.
haha, a dolt, i'm an ivy league student my fellow boxing fan I am far from a dolt. for him to claim that so-called "street thugs" will be some of the only people discussing mayweather as a viable atg in the future, is not only an unfounded statement, but also a stupid assertion simply put.
thank you for using the word "Supremely". usually, I am just referred to as moderately ignorant. So thank's for the props!:hat
I think he is speaking of who remains most vivid in the collective consciousness. There's a reason the general masses, and even some of the astute fight fans, are still in awe of Tyson, though scores of better fighters have passed through the ranks since Tokyo. He captured the imagination. Either that, or I completely missed his point.
That was great, thanks for posting 2 things sprang to mind as I watched that, one Robinson looked exactly the same as he did in his fighting days, like he never aged! and two that its sad that theres probably only LaMotta left from this era that can now give a first hand account of that incredible time in Boxing history
If Artie Levine still has all his marbles (85 years old next January), it would be interesting to hear his side of the Robinson fight.
that quote does not apply to me my friend. and whats your point behind interjecting? I fail to understand why you need to come to this man's aide over a completely idiotic comment? if you can explain why he believes the specific demographic of "street thugs" will be some of the only people considering mayweather an all time great, i'll understand why. otherwise, you're being grouped along with the ignoramus who I originally responded to. who are these "street thugs"? why will they be so heavily vested in mayweather's potential hall of fame credentials? in other words, what are you subliminally hinting at regarding mayweather's fan base?
