I like Ward; and I think he'd have been around back in the 50's he would have taken a lot of scalps and been in the mix against a lot of high quality guys. If given the chance to beat a guy like Maxim, I think he would. I wouldn't even rule him out completely against Moore, Bivens, Chales, or any of the other guys in the Murderer's Row. But Marciano's a bridge too far. I don't think Ward can stay outside against Marciano the whole fight; and once it gets inside, it's just a matter of how much damage Ward is able to withstand before he falters. He may be able to withstand enough to go the 15 round distance depending on when Marciano gets started, but I don't think he banks enough rounds to win against Marciano over that distance.
Ooh...man. How serious it would be. Even Kovalev could KD Ward in the first fight so what Marciano could do to Ward if they met?
