For however explosive Dempsey was, he was not built like a Heavyweight capable of taking tremendous punishment, despite his mythologized heralded granite chin.
Dempsey by tko Marciano was dropped by a 40year old lightheavy ,dropped by a 37 year old heavyweight and given life and death by a 33 year old past prime ex lightheavy ,in danger of being tkod against a journeyman[Simmons]. Marciano 's 3 best opponents were past prime oldsters Easy to slant isn't it?
I dare say Rocky Marciano was a better fighter than Fireman Flynn and ex Flyweight Willier Meehan (though some on here would disagree, especially over 4 rounds)
I can see Dempsey starting off double quick,and battering Marciano from pillar to post for the first round or so. Rocky starts turning the tables after the third and stops Jack by the halfway mark. Rocky has more stamina and can take a shot better than Jack.
Perfect point .... all of this is so easy to slant .... It's a styles thing and while Dempsey was faster and the better two handed puncher I think if he goes kamakazi he would get caught ... if he fought in a controlled rage he would bust Rocky up pretty nasty ... it is a terrific match up ..
