One of my favorite fantasy fights. How does this go? How well does Quarry do against the Rock from Brockton?

I was a big Quarry fan, but Rocky would wreck him.

Quarry was always adamant that he would have licked Marciano. The closest to this fight would be Jerry's two fights with Frazier, both of which were competitive and both of which Quarry lost.I think Quarry would have his moments early on he was a good counter puncher and had faster hands than Rocky and physically he matches up well with him.
I take Marciano by tko around the 10th/11th rd.

An underrated guy historically against THE most overhyped fighter in the annals of the sport. Quarry retires at 49-0 against Marciano's opposition, and I'd not back Rocky against Ron Lyle with any confidence. Jerry could box very well, he'd take a decision over the slow, wide swinging Rock at a canter.

A terrible thrashing would have been meted out to Jerry. It wouldn't have gone more than 6 rounds IMO.

The version of Charles that went 15 rounds with Marciano likely may have defeated JQ. I wouldn't pick Quarry over Jersey Joe Walcott of the 1st fight or Archie Moore with any confidence.

Quary can't last as long as Lowry,Lastarza,a 40 years old Moore, moderate Buonovino, ,a fat C*ckell, a past prime Savold or Willis Applegate who went the distance?

Quarry gives it his all, and once again goes out on his shield.

Jerry sure looks good in the early going, countering with shorter, sharper punches.

Then he realizes he should have been more boxing-minded too late and either loses on points or gets stopped.

By and large, the fights vs these men were not peak Marciano IMO....with the exception of the Moore fight....and minus the kd that Archie scored, he basically got the **** beat out of him. BTW, isn't the idea for these hypothetical matches supposed to be the very best version of both men? I hardly think that the bouts with the men you listed were examples of Rocky at his best...although I liked Marciano's performance vs Moore.

You don't think Marciano was prime when he fought Savold,or C*ckell?
