I’m not sure where the stretcher part came from. But I’m repeating what I read one time. Larry says it was the worst beating he ever took.

Seems Wells could have been something but he left it too late to turn pro and couldn’t or would not commit full time to boxing choosing to stay home with a local team rather than leave home and sign with Lou Duva. Nick wound up in a ten rounder in his 4th fight and it turned out all the one round knockouts in the amateurs were no prep for ten rounds or pro training. Waisted talent.

Yes absolutely, owing to his style.

23 fights 16 and 7 w 15kos*. Think the point was he was 5”10 and gave Holmes big trouble. He also didn’t have a chin...but it was amateurs and not to much can be looked into it. But I’d wager he’d always have problems with short power punchers as I stated before simply because of his style. U stated earlier Frazier was quicker to close the distance...I think both fighters were great at controlling distance after a round or two. Wether one was slightly faster then the other makes little difference. Speed is a great quality in boxing but it’s not the only one and Marciano wasn’t nearly as slow as some posters make him out to be. I wouldn’t even call him slow i would call him average speed for a HW of any era.

Holmes had a huge heart and uncommon recovery ability, he could be hurt and dropped but he a tough guy to finish.
With that said, your talking about 1 punch. Marciano and Shavers fought nothing alike. Rocky more relentless and determined than Ernie Shavers. Marciano could batter the body and head the accumulation could pile up.
Holmes was an uncommon Fighter, so was Marciano.

Can we be honest here? Marciano never fought a top drawer puncher and your averages are terribly misleading and I'll demonstrate why. Marciano's opponents;and their ko percentages
    1.0%
    2.35.75% light heavyweights
    3.33% lightheavyweights
    4.58% light heavyweights
    5.72% middleweights
    6.0%
    7.28%
    8.0%
    9.0%
    10.0%
    11.33.33%
    12.17,5%
    13.33.33%
    14.10%
    15.6.35%
    16.50%
    17.15.79%

    19.30.61%
    20.4.17%
    21.31%
    22.33.33%
    23,43%
    24.25,32%
25.38.49%This is Vingo often cited as a huge puncher!
    26.40.91% Lastarza
    27.22.92%
    28.10.42%
    29. 42.31%
    30.31.88%
    31.
32.51.76% Wilson stopped in the first minute with a cut eye
    33.12.5%
    34.4.17%
    35.18.37%
    36.13.33%
    37.48.57% Layne
    38.24%Beshore
39.Louis75,36% This really brings up the average except Louis was no longer an effective big puncher!
40.50.35% Savold again not really a banger.
    41.10.42%Buonvino terrible stats!
    42.49.25% Reynolds
43.58.65% Mathews many scored over middles and light heavies.Who did he stop at heavyweight?
    44.43.66% Walcott
    45.Walcott
    46 Lastarza again
47.42,98 Charles some over middles and lhvs.
48,46.9% Cokkell never a puncher at heavyweight.
49.60% Moore 2 thirds over middles and light heavies.
I'm aware ko percentages can never tell the full story but they area pretty decent indication of power. Looking at those stats many would say Marciano never faced a puncher other than Walcott 38 and Moore 39/40 !

I have a Verified source that Larry took the beating of his life from a 5’10” puncher “who just had my number”.

Yes and Holmes was an amateur and Wells was southpaw ,very simlar to Marciano Im sure!lol
Want to look up how many times Max Marek dropped Joe Louis in the Golden Gloves?
Or how about Marciano in the amateurs?
Getting beat up and facing the prospect of a hiding, kicking his opponent in the balls to get dsq'd ?
Johansson thrown out of the Olympics for not trying? You're kind of pathetic do you know that!

What the **** has this thread turned into? This is madness.

Can somebody please tell me how Holmes beats Marciano? Or how Marciano beats Holmes?

No résumé comparisons, no power percentage comparisons of the a guy who has nothing to do with the thread, no debate on how an ancient Joe Louis had a jab on par with a 1980 Holmes. Just a breakdown of the fight, how there styles gel, each individual's advantages and how they win.

    SOMEBODY PLEASE.

I have a deck of Coley Wallace cards somewhere around here. Nope, that's my Lowry deck... and that's my Lastarza deck. I'll find it.

Is it perhaps under your Willis Applegate deck? Or your Don Mogard one?

This Rocky hate is getting ridiculous. That being said I'll take Holmes to get off the deck at some point and stop Marciano on cuts.
