I can't see how Marciano can win this one. He had some brutally tough fights against good but lesser heavyweights like Ezzard Charles, was dropped by lesser punchers like Walcot and Moore. Can't see how he would be able to survive long enough against prime Tyson for his superior stamina and heart to become a factor, especially as he is a known slow starter. Tyson was far bigger, some 35 lbs heavier, faster and more powerful than anyone he had ever fought. And unlike many of Marciano's opponents, Tyson would revel in the fact that Marciano would come to him. I can't see how Rocky can force Tyson back like Holyfield did as he is so much smaller and was not as durable as Holyfield. I see Marciano getting pushed back, beaten to the punch and eventually stopped inside 6 rounds.
I cant see any reason why people are picking Marciano? MArciano, brings NOTHING to the table. He hasnt got a jab like Douglas, he hasnt got the build or chin of a Holyfield, he hasnt got the size of a Lewis either. How hard Maricano punches compared to Ruddock is up for debate. Nobody ever weathered the storm against Tyson and came back into the fight. Marciano wont either. This fight would be similar to Foreman/Frazier. Youve got a small pressure fighter against a much bigger power puncher Tyson only ever fought 3 guys who were smaller than him. Frazier, Spinks and Norris. Go see how those fights turned out.
Anyone who thinks Tyson blows away a prime Marciano like he's on a par with the cans he was fed prior to Berbick is in dream land. A close fight with whoever lands the bombs first winning.
Anyone who thinks Marciano is going to stand and trade (and survive)against Mike Tyson is in dream land. Douglas, Holyfield and Lewis did not just stand in front of Tyson. They carefully outboxed him, waited for him to tire and then finished him off, something Marciano can not and will not do.
For the guys who pick Marciano I want to ask them How will Marciano survive the Tyson onslaught? Is it going to be his slick defence, his granite chin and his long rangefinder jab that he will use to keep Tyson at bay from landing his bombs?
He outweighed Rocky by nearly 40lbs or so... Rocky had iron resolve, and if he could potentially get Mike into the later rounds, who knows? Rocky could thump.
Mate, what do you know about Marciano? The guy was 49 and 0 and dominated a HW scene for three years in an an era when guys didn't take a back step for 15 rounds. He was on another level to the cans Tyson feasted on.
Marciano never fought anyone that could fart as hard as Tyson let alone punch. No, Tyson was feasting on bums who were much bigger and better technically than Marciano. Marciano would not be 49-0 if he fought Larry Holmes, Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis. Tell me exactly how Rock is going to beat Tyson
Marciano could not fight the Holmes or Holyfields, because they were not around when he fought. He did however, fight the likes of Charles,Walcott and Moore.. and completely destroyed them. Tyson fighting Holmes was the equivalent of Marciano dropping 215lbs Louis. The fact is, Tyson can't match Rocky's record.
Tyson would most likely win maybe even in brutal fashion but am I the only one who thinks that Marciano got at least a chance?
No chance man, Marciano wasn't a true HW, not even close. Also his style is tailor made for Tyson. He would stand in front of him and trade and that's not good for anyone. Tyson knocks him out in brutal fashion, it wouldn't be pretty.
So you cannot really discredit Tyson for his losses when Marciano didnt even face them guys Charles, Walcott and Moore are not Holmes, Holyfield and Lewis Holmes was a lot bigger than Tyson compared to Marciano/Holmes. Also Louis didnt do jack after losing to Marciano. Holmes went on to beat Mercer and have good showing against Holyfield. Holmes was also never knocked out before or after Tyson. Louis had been Kod before Tyson doesnt need to match anything, he beat bigger and better fighters than Marciano. Also Marciano left at the right time, and he should be given credit for that. If Tyson had retired after Spinks, he never would have lost to Douglas, Holyfield or Lewis. Well never know how Marciano would have done against the likes of Liston or Patterson becuase he retired
