    Contemporary laboratory tests say otherwise.

I will admit that I am skeptical about comparing tests across eras, but Rocky Marciano and Frank Bruno both had their punching power measured under laboratory conditions, 30 odd years apart, and they came out as being comparable.

Marcianos kind of power would be respected in ANY era. Boxing did not progress. It is not a sport like athletics. It is punching guys in the face! Stuff like competition comes into it a whole lot more than how muscular a guy looks covered baby oil.

Power is only power if it lands. Power and punching power is two different things. It has to be functional through the levels.

Guys like Frank Bruno get hit more times between shots waiting to land. It's about levels not just size. Manufactured careers. Match making. Politics. TV. Bigger gloves. Shorter rounds. Less fights. Less good fighters. More titles..

Face first? Have you studdied enough film of unedited rounds or have you risen to this assumption from highlight reels of wild finishing attacks only?

Marciano's style was perfect against much bigger guys of the 80's. He would get real low which made it hard for them to hit him. There was another thread maybe on another forum which should his defensive skill and how hard it was to hit him when he would get low. If anything, he would have been more dangerous in the 80s.

Yeah he would get real low and that would make it easer for him to reach the chin of 6'5 heavies.:patsch

The only 6'5" heavyweights to feature in the 1980s were Leroy Jones, Gerry c00ney, Carl Williams and Tony Tucker.

    Good fighters. Hardly world beaters.

It would make him hard to hit and when he came back up that gave him the extra power. If you watched any of his old fights, you would know what I'mtalking about, but obviously you haven't.

Almost all these guys lost to Tyson, who did just that. These acting like they don't know how bobbing and weaving works and pretending these tall 80s heavies were not victims of it.

Tyson was actually using Marciano moves to sucker the 6'5 Tucker.

    Was he really?

Was he also using Marciano hand speed, footspeed and balance?

You make fun of marcianos lack of speed constantly. Yet it never cost him a fight, despite going against fighters with terrific handspeed and upper body movement like walcott Charles and Moore

If speed was such an issue for marciano, then Surely fast footed Willie Pastrano and gifted handspeed floyd Patterson would have beaten him?

Marcianos style was built on strength and stamina. Strength and stamina trump speed anyday
