Power is not linear. The 94 kg olympic medal winner cleaned and jerked more than the 105 kg gold medal winner.

Yes, but you get physicaly strong fighters who can't break an egg with their fists, and physicaly weak fighters who hit like a ton of bricks.

True. It's a biomechanics thing which is why Pete Sampras has a better serve than John Isner despite a massive size differential, or why (until recently) Tim Lincecum threw harder than Matt Cain. My post was merely to repudiate the idea that size and power (in whatever form) are unequivocally linked.

I was wondering when this ding bat was going to bring race into it. Go home and grow up, learn to speak civilly and intelligently. Race-baiting moron.

And that sort of strength is different from functional strength as well. Dan Gable could physically overpower wrestlers in larger classes in practice. It's like arguing over who's the biggest elephant in the zoo.

It tells me that his manager thought it would sound good in a newspaper. It's a nice publicity stunt. When I fight, I use these jumbo inflatable boxing gloves, otherwise I might accidentally kill people.:bbb

During Marciano's reign, the heavyweight division started at, what, 176-pounds? So, Marciano was indeed a true heavyweight, and all the guys he fought were heavyweights. Don't fault that era simply because the weight for making heavyweight has increased since then.

In reality, I think Marciano was actually under 5'10". But regardless, he had some massive power.

Did Jack Johnson ever fight Marciano? How about Jeffries so how the hell would they know about his punching power moron? Because they were nice enough to say he could punch hard? What a ****ing idiot. Seamus nobody asked you to even make a reply here. I said intelligent boxing fans so based on you being a fan of Marciano you are a ****ing moron so please stop replying to my threads.

Another thing that shows how stupid Marciano fans are. I said a modern sized heavyweight who he beat. And name a modern sized heavyweight who could punch like Foreman, Tyson, Lewis, Bowe, Tua, ect ect ect. And they keep naming 180 pound fighters saying he knocked them out.

I used Bob Foster as a example. Lets say Marciano wasn't a worthless mob controlled bum. Lets say he could punch hard for a guy his size. Could Bob punch hard for a light heavyweight? What happened with he fought heavyweights? His power disappeared right? Yet Marciano wouldn't because he is "Rocky Maricano"? So hilarious

Shawn, you are obviously over-whelmed by my admittedly mediocre intellect, so I will walk you through this. Just hold my hand tightly and be brave. You can do it.

Marciano beat every man of importance in what was, at his time, deemed the heavyweight division. And he beat them rather emphatically. He had a modest but serviceable resume on his climb to the top but then fought and defeated every fighter of regional, national and international note in the division. What more could we really ask the lil' feller to do?

Were there modern sized heavyweights worth a **** at the time, why weren't they in the punching game? Why wasn't one of these specimens even in the top 10? Boxing far outdistanced such American sports as Football in popularity and earning potential. Where were the Hasim Rahman's, the Tommy Morrison's and the Trevor Berbick's?

And again, remind us unwashed masses of the grand heights from which you cast your judgements over those that had witnessed first-hand Jeffries, Johnson, Dempsey, Schmeling, Louis... I just need a refresher.

Be brave, my little friend, even if your voice shakes.

Wait Tommo knows his boxing. So now there are 2 of us now. Isn't that something.
