None of this was readily apparent to me while viewing it, but apparently there were some points of contention about this match.

    1. In the round that Lando went down, they said the fight clock was intentionally touched that the timers killed it even before it reaches the 3- minute limit to save Lando.
    2. Choi Chung Il said the ring was slippery and was purposely done to his

I can't speak to canvas having been moistened intentionally; sounds a bit paranoid/sour grapes. Let me review the start & end times of the fifth round, though, as that's an easily fact-checked thing...

I also didn't realize how well-loved domestically Navarrete was, as he isn't among their fighters you hear much of. (at least not if you aren't speaking with specifically boxing fans of a certain age, I suppose)

The gong sounds for round 5 at precisely 23:15 of the upload embedded above. Navarrete goes down at 25:50, and the ref counts to "eight", satisfied that he is okay to continue at 26:02 (so his eight was stretched out to a 'real' twelve, but whatever. This aspect of reffing is subjective; they're not metronomes but human beings...)

He spends a couple of seconds extricating himself from Navarrete, awkwardly stepping toward Choi and summoning both fighters to continue by waving his palms together, at 26:04 - but the gong sounds once more (just on the cusp of 26:05) and the whole trio shrugs and splits off, fighters into their corners and Chuck Hassett to a neutral one to idle and hold the ropes for the ring card girl.

Hmm. That is eleven seconds early, and while that certainly benefits Navarrete, there is no apparent reason for me to assume that was malevolence rather than just incompetence on the part of the official timekeeper. :nusenuse:

    I'm a resident scorer? Thanks... I guess.
I'd actually quite like to see @CST80's score here. I think I'd be quite interesting.

I mean, you're here, taking up residence on this forum, ain't ya? :sisi1

And despite your tenure not being that long so far, your scorecards already seem to have more intrinsic value than many who seem to presume the importance of (and demand for) theirs. :SimpHomer:

And yeah would love to get @CST80's take on this one. Choi would be his cup of tea stylistically, but I think he could appreciate things about Navarrete as well.

Thanks, my personal vote for best scorers in here are yourself and @PhillyPhan69 , I was just a little shocked to be in such quality company. So thanks.
Also, I think most people need to stop acting like there cards are the be all and end all, and decide a consistent basis on to give each individual rounds. Once you can argue your points, there's really no going wrong imo.

Tbh I wanted to see his reaction to the fight and if he'd someone how manage to make it look one sided lol

I appreciate the kind words and regardless of if seen as true or not by others, I love scoring am passionate about it and inquire about official opportunities through PA state athletic commission, but juggling schedule seems to be tough right now. I would add @rorschach51 and @scartissue as two serious scorers I like to see cards from.

@PinoyProdigy would be another good one to add into the mix. Don't worry, he's perfectly capable of putting any nationalistic biases aside when scoring matches of Filipinos'. :sisi1

I don’t remember my score for the first fight but I had Manny winning. I had Marquez winning the second 115-112. And the third fight I had a draw.....BUT Manny is the one fighter I personally can’t trust my scoring with just because he’s my all-time favorite fighter. I feel like when scoring Manny fights, I try too hard not to be biased and at the same time letting my bias affect the score when it’s really close.

As for this Navarrete fight, I’ll try to find a time to score this week. Busy schedule atm so I’ll do it when I find some free time.
