Ron Lyle versus Deontay Wilder would be sanctioned murder.

It’s because I have eyes. Ortiz had dominated everyone he fought whereas Parker got the beating of a lifetime from a guy who turned out to be limited. We’re talking about late 23 Parker, not 2016 Parker.

Well it's easy to dominate against weak opposition Ortiz's only stand out win was in 2015 which was 3 years before he fought Wilder.

Joyce lost to Zhang who could very well be one of the best H2H fighters in Heavyweight division right now and hes a big punching Southpaw who's a unit.

Just because Joyce lost to Zhang doesn't mean he can't be successful against other top 10 Heavyweights, just like we see Parker lost to Joyce but did very well vs Wilder styles make fights. Joyce has a good chin good workrate and keeps coming forward, Wilder is a rangy Heavyweight who fights at range and picks his spots to try and land right hand totally different propositions.

Alot of top Heavyweights outside of Joshua haven't fought a wide range of notable Heavyweights so we really don't know how they match up until they fight eachother.

    Who? Joyce?

It's very much possible to have eyes and fail to see and understand that the very limited guy picked a stylistic nightmare who took away his main measure of control as far as rhythm, timing, distance, and numerous other facets of boxing go—that being the jab.

Parker did not have such comfort. He had no power to budge Joyce, he had no tools to take away his jab, nor the footwork and ring geometry to reliably dance his way to the decision. The admirable but limited defensive savvy of his could only get him so far.

And all that aside, Ortiz was a safe pick for Wilder as far as available contenders. Slow-feet, poor gas tank, poor chin, understandably stayed on the outside. Any and all advantages he had were offset by the fact that Wilder could fight the way he can—as a living human artillery. A sight to behold when it gets to work, really.

Show me some 38 year olds who fought less than a round in two years and hadn’t fallen off.

Even if Parker ends up having a two part prime like Holyfield, Wilder is still a 38 year old who fought one round in two years.

And you know who did better against Joyce than Parker? A past prime Jennings.

But then why was everyone making Wilder a big favourite over the likes of Joshua before last night ? No one was claiming Wilder fell off until Parker exposed him.

It's just like everyone thought quite highly of Wallin until Joshua beat him up.

Because people get caught up in big punchers with “nuclear KO power.” When the name of the sport is boxing, not punching.

Yes but as I said just to you your claiming all this with hindsight.

Most people had Wilder a big favourite over the likes of Parker, Joshua, I didn't see a single post on this forum claiming Wilder was past it.

Now whilst I'm not saying Wilder was at his absolute best, but in the end I still think it was a stylistic issue rather than Wilder suddenly becoming shot over night.

We see how Fury dominated Wilder in their 2nd fight with the exact same tactics Parker did last night but with less mauling.

Wilder is not effective when being pressed on the backfoot, if you give him range and allow him space then his right hand is a danger. But Wilder is not physically the strongest guy and has twig like legs, so you need to get physical with him push him back to negate his right hand and power which is what Parker did.

It also helps Parker has a sturdy chin and whenever he did get caught with the odd right hand he stood up to it.

I think Wilder would’ve beaten Parker in 2017 just by throwing a lot of punches.

I just had a look at the punchstats Wilder only landed 39 punches vs Parker that has to one of the worst outputs ever surely ? between two ranked Heavyweights after 12 rounds.

    Probably.

Also that line I posted was for Tyson v. Lewis. Tyson was favored.

Yeah that's probably because Lewis got chinned recently by Rahman, and i guess people thought Tyson had a punchers chance and well because it's Tyson.

I think it's fair to point out that when he was the age Wilder was last night, Lyle was butchered in two by Lynn Ball.

Tyson’s demolition jobs of Golota, Savarese, and Nielson in the lead up to Lewis were collectively superior to Wilder’s two minutes against Helenius to lead up to last night’s fight. They still were odds favorites for the same reason though.
