Even if theres nothing going on (and I don't think think there is in the large majority of cases), you'd think they'd change the refs just for appearances sake.

 

agreed. i mean Darkey was silly jumping up on ring apron like he did but having the same ref leaves yourself open to jibes and accusations of bribery and cheating. i mean to have the same ref 9 fights in a row that's just ridiculous really..

 

Agreed - Tszyu cut Hatton in half and dropped him with that body shot in round 7, it was legit, and as you say, Tszyu wasn't warned for a low blow, and no count was started, so what was the decision? Was it ruled as a slip? Mystified by it actually, it was almost like Parris was waiting for someone to tell him what ruling to make.

Thereafter, Parris was onto Tszyu for every bodyshot until that one in the 9th that Hatton retaliated with his blatant lowblow on Tszyu's groin that just about made me sick. Tszyu was given 5 minues to recover wasn't he? In that case, why wasn't Hatton at least warned for it?

After the fight Hatton was asked about his deliberate low blow and he replied with some comment about how it was a fight, not a game of tiddleywinks.

Hatton, Warren and Parris mugged Tszyu that night which is why I've taken great pleasure in seeing Hatton being levelled by Mayweather and Pacquaio.

 

apologies I thought it was Parris, now that you mentioned I remember now, there was another fight though - so my memory must be fading :think

 

Dave Parris in Choi-Derry Matthews fight was terrible as well. Him and Derry's dad killed his career that night. If he'd have stopped it in the third round as he should have done Derry could have gone on with his career.

 

I think you'll find your pleasure is 99% down to seeing an Englishman flattened.

Tszyu was a dirty ****er who got some of his own medicine that night (as Hatton did when he fought Mayweather).

Tszyu to his credit never whined at the time. A great fighter.

 

It was a messy fight. Never liked Hatton's style that much and thought Tyszu got a rough deal, but it's not like he was being pulled off Ricky

 

So what you're saying is Dave Parris was biased in favour of Hatton that night? What a revelation

he was given the 5min option but only took a few minutes, Parris simply turned to Hatton before the restart and told him to keep his shots up, it was barely a warning, more like a reminder

 

Except the cases where Dave Parris is involved quite clearly...

 

I've not see the fight in while but wasn't it the 2nd or 3rd that Zoo caught Hatton in the nuts and got no warning off Parris for it?

Funny how you never see Nigel Benn getting pulled up on here for hitting a downed opponent (Barkley) and rabbit punching another (McClellan) yet a bit of rough and tumble in tough, messy fight involving Hatton gets a new thread ever few months....

 

this is true however the commentators were calling for the ref to DQ him.

 

It's a matter of sheer consistency that brings Dave into question. It's not just one, two or three incidents. There is a catalogue of deviance.
