Paulie should never complain about a bad scorecard again in his life.. Cano took him to the cleaners and got Jobbed by the judges!

Boxing is the only sport in which a damn close battle can end up lopsided on the scorecards. I've seen it happen many times, including Saturday.

I had it either 8-4 or 7-5 Mares, plus the two deductions. The gap in the scorecards doesn't reflect how good of a fight it was, though.

Moreno got about 4 rounds, and there were a couple of close ones, but Mares was the clear winner, no question, and it was an impressive victory, especially since I thought he would lose.

It was close rounds. A matter of a few punches difference each round, and nothing like earth-shattering punches as well.

In my opinion it was 8-4 for Mares, he took the fight to Moreno

i think a big difference in the close rounds was the fact that moreno was literally running away from mares.....that's huge when a fighter can throw you that much outta your gameplan.....not to mention the great body work mares was doing

Can someone make a gif on that? Towards the end of the fight he was literally running after him. It was actually pretty funny.

Yeah, Mares clearly won, I agree with ppl here saying Moreno won 3 rounds, 4 if you want to be generous, he had his moments in other rounds but he was getting overwhelmed by Mares in every one of them.

Mares stamina is really impressive, and so is his adaptability, from punching boxing to swarmer for this fight and dont forget that overhand right he was dismantling Moreno with, that's not a punch you see in Mares' arsenal usually, and he was using it as his sunday punch and very effectively.

I agree Mares won very comfortably. I didn't think Moreno would be that uncomfortable with Mares, shocked me. Mares gets major props from me for this win, even if it was a little dirty. I thought he might lose or have it close on the cards and win a robbery, not the case at all. Look forward to his next fight. Moreno is going back down in weight which is good, don't think his punches will get the respect needed for his defensive style against aggressive fighters unless he does.

I had it for Mares.....I thought Moreno would pull it out but Mares applied consistent pressure that allowed him to control the majority of the fight.

Moreno won more than 3 rounds on my card but I felt he could have won if he was a little bigger and stronger...he just wasn't able to curb Abner's work rate although in the later rounds the body work began to pay dividends for Moreno. He just needs to move back down in my opinion.
