jones always does a great job. and he's good at staying neutral too. he's a great and very knowledgeable commentator.
Roy does a pretty good job and has credibility now that he's been on the top of the game as well as the bottom of the barrel. One thing that color commentators do that irks me is turn everything into a conversation about themselves. Relating to yourself sometimes to make a point is cool, but turning everyting into a conversation about yourself blows. Roy does a descent job of not being a jackass. He's better than Lennox but I'd still rather have George back. Jermain Taylor or Bernard Hopkins would be good choices also.
Roy is great....I'm glad we got some guys actually calling the fight and not just making stupid comments about nothing or making fun of the fighters (Merchant, Steward sometimes rambles on about nothing too). Even when Max gets out of hand, Roy keeps him in check...almost like how Big George did to Merchant.
RJJ impressed the hell out of me. He was funny, insightful, spot on analysis, leveled even handed criticism, and, best of all, willing to tread into the possibly shark infested waters of race/boxing racial stereotypes/etc... with a bucket full of bloody fish heads and come out shining. The man MUST have been practicing this like crazy. He was doing his thing.
So if RJJ was wrong why did so many threads pop up appreciating "Matty Hatton"? If "Matty Hatton" wasn't the game tough kid RJJ called him to be who earned respect in defeat why couldn't the over sized water walking prospect dispatch him? I say that not even knocking Canelo. He did what he was supposed to do and looked good doing it. Both men came out winners tonight. We knew where Canelo was going. Hatton just polished off his resume and will probably get some better fights if he choses to step up at 147. Larry Merchant is a drunk bigot. I hope he is where all men of his stature should be. Sitting on a couch with a 5th of vodka mad at the world.
Exactly what I was thinking ..I love how Jones lets Max just spit his crap than comes in to do expert clean up work ..
