He had Tarver on ***** street in Round 5 of their last fight and stopped throwing punches! I wanted him to KO Tarver so bad!
that's due to stamina as well. jones doesn't have the stamina to let loose like he used to. i think he's afraid if throws all those flurries like he did in his prime, he'll tire out if the doesn't knock the guy out. in his prime, he could do it, and not tire.
Yes, I'd like to see him shut that nonce Tarver up It was sad to see a great fighter losing to him twice. It would be a good way to finish his career
He is afraid to get countered, you could see that when he is throwing punches he is very weary of his defense, in his prime he was very confident of his reflexes, not so much anymore.
You people dont understand.......... he faught a OLD, RETIRED, SMALL Trinidad at 170 pounds. Thats ike sparring your little brother. Glen Johnson would push him to the limit with the pressure and test if he's really back....my prediction... he gets KO'd again by anyone top 5.
Did anyone remember who he was fighting last night. he wasn't fighting the Tito of 7 or 8 years ago. And even if he was that was a blown up weltereight fighting a fighter who once held the heavyweight title. He fought a fighter that for the last 4 years has been all but inactive. He fought a beatable opponent. Roy was never in any danger in this fight from the time the contracts were signed til the post fight conference. To infer from this fight anything other than RJ getting a decent payday is obsurd. And i am a Roy Jones fan. I am also a realist. i do beleive roy can hang with the elite about Super Middleweight but before he starts calling out fighters like cazaghe he might want to take a close look at the punch output in Calzaghe fights. The peek a boo style will get him killed. Roy either go ahead and show the world what 38 or 39 years of age look like against the elite or leave the fighting to fighters. Please don't fight another blown up welterweight or over the hill fighter and tell us you're back. This was a decent tune-up fight but what the hell is he tuning up for? If he's looking at Calzaghe he may be tuning up for his Swan Song.
I agree. he didnt look tired at the end of the fight but he didnt throw as many punches as he would when he was young either.
He was gonna fight Tito back in the day if Tito had beat Hopkins. You can't tell me Roy doesn't still have the handspeed to give anyone problems at light heavy or even super middle.
I think he threw more punches in the henshaw fight ..I think what you see now is a 39 yr old Roy who waits to counter ..Can't expect him himt to be the offensive machine that he was 10 yrs ago ..I still think this version of Roy gives work to Calzaghe ..
