I agree. Roy Jones can do exhibitions at best. Will be nice to see such on some big boxing event for example.
There's a video out there with all of Roy's ko losses. It's truly frightening to watch. I don't care who he's fighting, any more shots to the head and he could be in serious peril.
As sad as this is, Roy will join Duran as the only fighters to compete in five different decades (80s, 90s, 00s, 10s, 20s). In an ideal scenario, Roy would've only competed in three.
RJJ Vs Pettis is a mis match. What weight would they fight at? Last time I saw RJJ was in September at the Amateur's and he looked like he swallowed a Platypus. (no disrespect Roy) Vitor Belfort is all juice, just waiting for him to die of a heart attack while jumping off the top ropes like Micky Rourke in the Wrestler. Vitor over Souza. Aldo VS Stephens will probably be the fight to watch.. pass on the rest.
Very sad for Roy, he clearly needs money to keep doing this. Probably wasn't that smart with his $$. I'm guessing be doesn't have much in tangible assets like properties, rentals, etc, which would've guaranteed him some steady income. A legend like Roy shouldn't have to do this.
Like many of the elite, they make a ton but they also spunk x10 more than they earn. I have never seen that type of money so i dont know how it is, all i can think is their mentality is the money will always be there. So they go crackers.
How is this fight anything more than an exhibition? Last fight Jones took on former hw champion legend Mike Tyson himself and you have a problem with this fight? Come on.
Lets look at the glass as half full. Roy Jones jr hasn’t lost a fight now for 7 years, sounds like he is ready for another titleshot.
boxers blowing through money? no way! mike tyson's abandoned mansion! https://abcnews.go.com/Entertainmen...ons-abandoned-mansion-30011447/image-30011495
It's like the stark differences between amateur and pro. At ams you start off humbly, while still studying at school, working other jobs, even some boxers who did time. Boxing was part time and didn't pay. Then in the pro ranks... Oh my, nothing but good huge paydays for the fighter and not having as many responsibilities as when he was a youngster in the old amateurs. At this point the prizefighter is done school, hopefully doesn't work a day job still, and those with a misspent youth have been free. ALL THEY really need to focus on instead of those old responsibilities is MANAGING their money!!! It just goes to show people want more from a fighter than just being a fighter. He has to watch the company he spends his time, fame, entourage, and family and team with. What's the point of million dollar pay days if you lose it all to leeches on? Like someone said Tyson made however many million but STILL spent more!!!
