You have to excuse Tommy he is 16 years old and has not been watching Boxing that long. And yes Lacy's shoulder injury was in his first fight back AFTER the Calzaghe fight.
Reggie ****ing Johnson? Get a hold of yourself. Toney is an excellent win, certainly at that time. Hopkins less so - he wasn't near his prime at that point, and it was a dull fight - Roy really didn't look super in that. Tarver arguably beat him the first time, making Roy look very ordinary in the process, then flattened him in two in the rematch, then had him in permanent retreat most of the third match. Not the best example you could have used.
i respectfully disagree. Jones clearly won at least 7 round in that fight while not at his best. the last two rounds showed the heart and determination he didn't need to demonstrate in the rest of his career
That's not what a lot of the press thought... but I can accept the argument for the other side. But he wasn't at his best because he was facing a guy who wouldn't just give up. And Tarver flattened him the second time out.
i can safely say tarver would have always troubled jones but i doubt he would have been him pre-ruiz. the second fight is a great win for tarver, no disputing it. but there will always be that asterix besides the win...that jones was post peak
No there will not. It is not like Jones was 40. He was 35 and got his Glass Jaw shattered. I love how the Jones fan just brush it off and say Jones was 'shot' just because he lost. That is laughable.
not shot, no absolutely. but post peak. for me, the pre ruiz wasn't the same as post ruiz. this is just my opinion. i certainly don't want to demean's tarver's win in the 2nd fight
