No Poll ? Wow tough Gman had the pop also held a win over Roy in the amateurs .Tough in the pros I like Roy but Gman is very dangerous ..Pick em fight .
I put this up a couple of years ago. I reckon Jones would of won ,points ( ignoring Mclellans tragic problem or however you want to put it ) but it would have been very very interesting and by far MW/SMW Jones Jnrs biggest test.
I used to think Jones would win handily until I saw Tarver one-punch Jones and Johnson put him to sleep as well. Obviously that was the past-prime Jones, but I think the chin tends to be one of the last things to go, and those knockouts reminds people of the persistent suspicion regarding Jones' chin when he seemed unwilling to take on the bigger punchers in his super middleweight and light heavyweight heyday--even the past-prime ones. Gerald was also not as crude as someone like, say, Julian Jackson, and at some point Jones would likely have been caught. I am on the fence on this one.
GMAN certainly has a punchers chance early, fast dynamic straight punching, I give him perhaps the best shot of beating Jones of any fighter below 175 in Jones prime. Still we never really saw McClellan against anyone who showed him movement, speed and his lack of defense certainly would be exposed unless he scored the early KO himself. His aggressive style would also leave him open to big counter punches I'd go with Jones but make GMAN a very live body because he can KO pretty much anyone with that power/speed combination. Whoever wins I don't think it goes beyond 6 rounds
Actually it can be the first thing to go, if you watch Jones against Sosa you can see him taking several big bombs and fighting back. Toney said Sosa was the biggest puncher he ever faced, so that says something
