The interview after the Richard Frazier fight says it all... Merchant knew what was up, and so did Roy... Which is why he had his little temper tantrum/mini-meltdown.

What if Roy Jones moved down to CW after Ruiz and won a title there?

    1. You have offered no stylistic breakdown of how you think fights against GGG and Kov would have played out.

    2. Your only evidence of so called murder, is based upon Roy having a bad chin, and that he never fought a huge puncher.

    3. The USA today article holds no water whatsoever.

Because we've seen actual EVIDENCE from a number of sources, that include HBO, that prove that Roy tried to fight other fighters.

Now you'll happily post these type of articles up, along with your favourite video where Larry Merchant ripped into him, yet you will completely ignore the times when they supported him.

That's because you're a hater, who only looks purely at the negatives, and not the whole picture.

If you supported HBO when they publicly ripped him, then you also have to support the times when they publicly backed him.

    4. Roy didn't rip HBO off. They extended his contract on numerous occasions, even giving him bonuses. At certain times they were frustrated, but as a whole, they were happy. Roy fought on HBO over 30 times. They also obviously knew beforehand that he'd have mandatory obligations. When he became the unified champ at LHW, he had mandatory obligations from three organisations. If HBO had been so unhappy with him, they wouldn't have been associated with him for the last 23 years.

    Keep hating.

Steve Collins would been beaten easily, and Rico would have trashed the win, claiming that Roy fought a limited guy who beaten a faded Benn etc.

    :rofl:patsch

Um, you know Jones is the reason why they no longer give guaranteed long term deals right? :huh

You don't have a clue about what you speak. They were very critical of him even apologizing multiple times after his fights they asked him to drop the trinket belts and fight THE Light Heavyweight champion and he refused. This is documented on video. Do you think Dan Rafael was just making all this up and he is the only person that felt that way? :patsch

I think Golovkin, Adonis and Kovalev all are good enough to go along with their power to be dangerous to Roy. But hed be the solid favorite over G and Adonis. Would most likely knock adonis out.

But the only guy in all the divisions below cruiser I think is a true competitive threat to Roy is Kova. Hes a top fighter with top power, with the size to be effective.

At heavyweight I dont think jones is very successful. I think Ruiz was a perfect matchup for him.

But id say if you can go around the world, from 154 to 175 with only a handful of fighters even being able to compete with you, you're pretty special.

People say RJJ just had speed and reflexes. That's not true.

He was a natural counter-puncher, a style which takes a good bit of skill.

 have you honestly ever watched a prime Roy ?

Kovalev and GGG would get starched ! Huck would have the breaks beat off him outside of that the HW's do hurt him..But you really need to watch more of,his prime..
