Roy got better as he went up in weight. He got matched soft at 160 and his handlers probably would've avoided the GGG fight entirely.

Golovkin is a great fighter, but peak Jones at 160 was just different gravy.

 

There's a reason why Roy's handlers never tried to truly concretize a fight with heavy punchers or non-stop pressuring machines like McClellan, Benn, Michalczewski and Collins. I still favour the Pensacola phenomenon in this particular match-up (more precisely by a 9-3/8-4 type of UD), but I wouldn't be astonished in case of a late TKO victory for Gennady, especially at 160 lbs, a division in which Jones Jr. wasn't yet at his best.

 

There isn't a middleweight that has ever lived that could beat a prime Jones Jr. at 160. Jones by lopsided decision or a spectacular flashy KO.

 

Not hard to see what would happpen if GGG landed on that Glass Jaw. Jones has one of the worst Chins in the game. It is no shock why he avoided the savage punchers of his era in 3 different weight classes. Jones never beat a unified, undisputed, or lineal champion in his whole career. Doubtful he would even fight GGG. Roy was selling even worse than GGG on PPV back in his 'Prime'. Several of his PPV's did 90k.

IIRC, Jones was never knocked down or out @ 160 or 168. So, where was Roy's alleged "glass jaw" when he campaigned @ those weights?

Roy's resume deficates and urinates all over Bumlovkin's. Roy has wins over 3 first ballot HOF'ers - who are all arguably ATGs. Exactly WHO has Bumlovkin beaten?

 

Am I missing something; did RJJ have a solid chin at MW? Lord knows when he started getting hit on it after moving up it always betrayed him. You also have to factor in drug testing; so when RJJ pisses hot do they mysteriously lose the sample like they did already on multiple occasions or do they actually report the positive test and punish him?
