Tough one for Joe,both are quick, both are sharp but Jones still has that edge.If he pops Calzaghe with a fast right and he goes down Jones will probably move up a gear and settle it.But Calzaghe doesn`t `slap` when he throws that wide left certainly not.
Roy Jones couldnt beat Tarver in two attempts four years ago. He got ktfo, and beaten on points, and yet you think four years on he's going to beat a superior boxer in Calzaghe.
I can see what you mean, but keep in mind Calzaghe's style suits Roy better than Tarver. Tarver caught him with an amazing punch in the second fight, and in the third, Roy was happy just to survive... It also must be hard as hell to fight a guy that knocked you out with one punch, especially after being beaten up for 9 rounds and knocked out agian in the meantime. I think Roy's mental state is better now than against Tarver and Johnson. He has got a bit of confidence back and overall better fighter than 4 years ago against someone that suits him better. He has a better chance than he did fighting Tarver in the 3rd fight IMO.
I doubt he will win, but imo, he will offer a far greater threat to JC than Hopkins. Jones has the ability to stop Calzaghe. He also has enough physical tools to outpoint him over 12. Again, I favour Calzaghe to win, but would not be shocked to see Jones pull it off.
