Wondering that myself. :huh Roy was the definition of slick. He can't be hit cleanly.

Floyd stole that shoulder-roll stance from Roy!

The final chapter has yet to be written on Floyd but I do not believe he can ever match the effortless feats of Jones nor will he match the win streak of Roy not counting the disqualification.

Sure, Jones looked more impressive, but he wasn't fighting the caliber of fighters Floyd faced. When you stack up the quality of opposition, Floyd was more impressive. Jones waited until fighters were old before he faced them.

Didn't Toney get a bull**** decision over the world-beater named Dave Tiberi? You know Toney ran hot and cold back then, and anyone who knows Toney can see that that was one of his cold moments.

Speaking of Jones I was wacthing a replay of his fight w/Toney and in the 5th and 8th rds Toney was nailing Jones with some solid shots and Roy just walked right through them ..

Roy Jones Jr hardley lost a round before his fight with Tarver. How can hardly losing a round not be more impressive than someone who regularly loses rounds?

Lets wait till Mayweather is 38 and still fighting and see if he's still undefeated

Roy is a victim of time. He seemed to run out of legitamit opponents during his "reign" as PFP king and seemed "bored" with boxing - nothing to prove anymore. Roy could have waited a little longer and positioned himself in an enormous money making position because of the emerging talent in the super middle weight and light heavyweight divisions. Instead of Tarver/Hopkins, a Jones/Hopkins rematch would have been tremendous especially if Jones elected not to do a second fight with Tarver and Bernard a fight with Taylor.
Mayweather's timing is quite different. The Junior Welter, Welter, and Super Welter weight divisions are clamoring with talented fighters that fans will pay big money to see fight him. Mayweather is smart, as he will allow the pool to eliminate each other for the final showdown. Mayweather, per 24/7, seems to acknowledge that each fight takes a superior level of preparation and that his body will not hold up to that too much longer. Less fights, but only the worthy fights.

This is very debatable. It is close enough that it doesn't account for the disparity in dominance. If PBF fought better competition, it's not by much, and the gap between how dominant Jones was in his prime compared to PBF is certainly much larger in comparison.

This isn't to say that PBF isn't dominant. But Jones was maybe the most dominant fighter in the modern era.

Jones was much more naturally gifted and a better athelete, but PBF has better technical skills.

I think Jones' defense was sorta like Ali, in that he often pulled his head straight back to avoid punches rather than just slip them to the side. It worked well when they were young and had all their reflexes there, but once they got up there in age, they started getting zapped more often.

It´s ridiculous to say Roy didn´t fight anybody, when he beat both Hopkins and Toney, who are both all time greats.

I think Jones ruined himself by going back down to lightheavyweight. I don´t understand why he did it, because he had done everything at that weight anyway and should have been able to get bigger money defending the WBA belt he had just impressively won at heavyweight.
