Garbage. Roy went out like a ***** when Calzaghe was sticking his chin out for him to hit and Roy was standing there with his hands up afraid to hit him. Pathetic.
I'd like to see the loser fight an even more shot Scott Pemberton on a more expensive PPV. Sad to see RJJ go out this way.
I hope Roy is looking to go out with a win and call it a day....but unfortunately he is starting to become the one thing he said he would never be..Someone who stuck around to long in the sport and is going to get hurt...I wish him well
Well, even Roy Jones deserves a tune-up before a big fight, although Jones should look for retirement instead of a big fight. PPV is a joke, but there's nothing unusual with that. Typical Jones bull****. I wonder whether we'll see a Jones-Hopkins rematch in the Summer... F*ck it, I'd still watch it. At least Jones wouldn't fight a young puncher full of energy...
It's in Pensacola so it looks like a farewell fight against a beatable opponent and if that proves to be the case then it's OK I think, just for him to go out on a win. It's PPV becasue no network would stump up any cash for this I think and he doesn't wanna go out off-TV so this is the only way to make it available - it won't be HBO or Showtime PPV, just a production by his own company. He could've found a more shot/better name opponent to get a win and go out against - an ex-titlsit like Manny Siaca or Byron Mitchell, a Keith Holmes or Carl Daniels. But Sheika does hold a win against Glen Johnson so maybe that's the attraction.
I agree the fact its a combination of a fight in Pensacola against someone of the calibre of Sheika makes me think its a farewell fight. I think thats fine...I wont be buying it though.
:roflatsch this might sell 25k PPV's. they would be better off fighting on ESPN Friday Night Fights or Versus. Nobody will buy this garbage.
Can Roberto even make 190? On a similar note, thank GOD it wasn't against Tavoris Cloud like I had originally read on a few sites...that would've been murder.
