but surely the belief isn't speaking of an impossibility for smaller boxers - that's ridiculous. ppl who believe that might as well deny Usyk any shot, another absurdity. which is why i took the belief as claiming the cream of the crop (we're talking championship + successful defences level) would for the most part be SHW sizes boxers. that definitely hasn;t become a myth from one night.

The evidence was circumstantial, it just hadn't happened in a long time. The last small heavyweight to reign was Tyson and he was just a phenom, since then we have basically had nothing but giants at the top of the sport.

Well... I have seen a fair bit of dismissing Usyk as hopeless on here before even seeing him debut at the weight.

that rings true until you get to the very top level where the huge guys are either more skilled, just as skilled or perhaps even somewhat underskilled but can use their extreme size advantages to their advantage. let's not pretend lewis, fury, wilder, AJ and the Klit bros didn't achieve just that.

Ironically, its shades of Tyson, Mike Tyson that is not Fury, lol. Tyson was 5'10 in an era of 6'3 fighters. I concur nonetheless, skill and heart over size.

It just goes back to making what attributes you have an advantage. They only used their size as an advantage because their opponents let them. Size advantages can work for or against you.

Last year Marvis Frazier was asked how the smaller guys could over come the big guys in the division and he emphasized how the bigger guys tend to leave themselves open more and and run out of steam faster, so the smaller guys need to use that to their advantage and not make excuses.

Admittedly Tyson set the bar really high.

Heavy, but I did state and meaning you'd need to have both height and weight.
