The fact he stiffens up demonstrates that he’s not relaxed when he’s taking shots, and that’s something he needs to work on. That’s not just from me, that’s off the foghorn Tony Bellew. He panicked tonight in round 4 and round 8. It sounds pedantic but that’s how a fighter can gas & get sparked. I don’t believe he’s glass chinned, but he’s not confident in his own chin.
Nah mate you’re right, it was excellent. I’d praise the exact same thing from Fury and BJS. That wasn’t what I was saying really, I was just selfishly after a bit of a tear up again.
Are you sure, cos the rules for boxing rings in the USA are between 16-20 feet. https://d36m266ykvepgv.cloudfront.net/uploads/media/QblZ66O15c/o/usa-boxing-technical-rules-8-9-13.pdf
After 5 rounds I was like wtf is AJ actually going to box to a decision lol. Every time AJ got caught I thought the fight was over. Ruiz chucked it away coming in at 20 stone though. He’s ****ing lazy I’m sorry. He thought he could get away with it and he got shown up. I’m not even a massive AJ fan but I respect what he did in the ring tonight completely nullified him.
it’s nice to talk sense sometimes amidst this shitstorm of a forum lol. I always look out for your messages
I still say ruiz made the same mistake most opponents make against joshua. They think he,ll tire cause his staminas no good. The reality is his staminas actually pretty good for a guy his size....its only when he gets hurt his stamina becomes absolutely terrible. Most opponents have tried to be cagey....waiting for him to tire without doing much....the problem is he doesnt tire more than anyone else till hes hurt. He ended up knocking them out before they even found out if he,d tire without really hitting him. Ruiz aimed for the body quite a bit tonight. Mainly because they got success in the first fight with it....but it was after he was hurt. A body shots never a wasted punch really. But it became apparent joshua was taking them....ruiz should have been going for the head. Always said it....his staminas pretty good till hes hurt. His chins fragile and his recoverys too long. Cant believe they never went for the head more tho bearing in mind it was the success to the first fight. Tbf ruiz wasnt really in the right shape for it and joshua fought a good fight...made it hard for him. But the gameplan looked like chopping him down to the body....when going to the head is the key to success against joshua. The bodies vulnerable after hes hurt aftrr tonight he looks like he can take them prior to being hurt tho. Obviously joshuas stamins was better than usual tonight because of the low weight etc. Regardless tho....his staminas good for a big man till hes hurt. They need to stop trying to tire him....and start trying to get him hurt. His chin should be the target.
I'm not going to trawl through the posts. Joshua did what he had to do, Ruiz jnr had no answer for it. AJ didn't deliver a masterclass but he did more than enough and I hope we can now bury the myth that Andy Ruiz Jnr is some knockout monster. @Twentyman I'm glad I joined the discussion when I did, you tell it how it is and I enjoy your posts.
Aj,s not a great boxer. He never will be. Hes always been a decent enough boxer tho. Hes outboxing a guy far too heavy for himself....with a 74 inch reach. They just had him moving from one side to the other and its took months of constant preparation to get him to that level. His boxing will fall apart against a guy that can actually box...with similar length and height. Ruiz was just too unfit to let his hands go. The only difference with joshuas boxing to the first fight is that he constantly tried to move. It wasnt fluid natural movement either....it was a system of move, move, move. Good boxers with good footwork control their opponent with it. Joshua doesnt have the know how to do that. His footwork will always stop him from being a great boxer. Hes just being trained to keep moving. It will come undone against someone that knows what their doing....like ruiz....but if your too out of condition for it....what chance have you got.
Thank you very much, pal. You’re a quality poster. Now that I’ve had a few hours to process this evenings boxing, I’m fascinated as to who’s gonna fight who next. Wilder v Fury should hopefully happen in the first quarter of year. Joshua will probably drop a belt and we’ll see Usyk possibly fight Parker or Chisora for the vacant belt. In the meantime, Joshua can continue to rebuild his confidence against his mandatory, Pulev. Whyte needs someone that Sky can justify charging PPV for, it really wouldn’t surprise me if it was Parker (if Chisora gets Usyk) unless Ruiz fancied a knock. 2020 should be fun.
