It’s already derailed, (Canelo is on record stating that he will get no credit for pummeling Crawford - hence no fight is scheduled)

If Crawford beats GGG more convincingly
Then Nelo the public will demand it.
& Nelo himself might feel that the fight is actually warranted.

That was before Bud moved up to 154 and won a world title. Now it's more appealing, the weight gap is less than it was and the biggest money tree in boxing His Excellency is ready to throw tons of money at him to make the fight.

The fight has tremendous appeal. Any time you can put two top P4P stars in the same ring it's a Mega Fight. This supposedly could happen in the Vegas football stadium. Beating Crawford is a path for Canelo to return to P4P #1. If he wins, a lot of fans won't give him credit because of the weight gap, but the boxing powers that be will and it will mean a lot in terms of P4P rankings. Canelo has plenty to gain for beating Crawford. Having a name like Crawford on his record means a lot and greatly enhances his already great resume.
That's true, but Crawford wants Canelo next. He'll be 37 in a month and taking on GGG even at 42 is dangerous. Also Canelo typically fights May and September, this is being planned for February. If it happens in February it won't necessarily stop Canelo from having 2 more fights later that year on his usual dates, especially if it ends up being a mismatch. We'll see how it unfolds.

I still haven't watched GGG v Canelo 3 but I'm not convinced that Crawford v GGG is a bad fight.

It sure is making the rounds, though.

I can understand GGG fighting again to maybe get a slice of that Saudi pie.
I can understand Turki wanting it *IF* he still has designs for Crawford-Canelo, where this would be like a prerequisite qualifier to help frame that.
And I can see Crawford wanting it, if he thought it could possibly open up the door for a Canelo payday.

All of that being said, I'd prefer it not happen, even though in my mind the outcome is ANYTHING but a foregone conclusion.

Yeah I reckon a piece of the Saudi pie is the main reason GGG has been making noise lately letting the fans know that he is not retired.
People are saying it is lose lose situation for Bud but I don't think so I believe the pay day will be huge for both men and as you said the result is anything but a foregone conclusion.

I scored it a draw, and it was far closer than most of the reactionaries on here, who are super impressed by Canelo's looping monster shots that miss, had it.

He attended a medal ceremony in the Olympics, no way he is coming back anytime soon after seeing him. He's probably at cruiserweight already.

Golovkin looks like a bear in hibernation at this point. There is no way he is physically able at the moment.

I wouldn't be surprised if the fight is at 168 as that is the weight Crawford would have to fight Canelo at as there is no way Canelo will make any concessions for Crawford.
