Who gives a **** about "unification"? Everybody knows that PBF and Cotto are the top guys. The belts are meaningless.

Yeah, taking a tuneup bout before a unification match is absurd and unheard of, right? Almost as absurd as being the so called "Champion" in the welterweight division, then saying **** like "It's not about proving to the fans who the best is," and "I'm not trying to call out any welterweights." Spare me.

I also have my doubts that Mayorga can make 147.

No one is cherrypicking, not Cotto an not Mayweather. A real cherrypicker is a guy like Sergei Dzinziruk, who only defends his title against fringe contenders in Germany.

What you say is not valid if Cotto fights Mayorga after Gomez.

Indeed. It has all been orchestrated by Arum, Cotto and Mayweather. Probably in Arum's office last December.

However, what happens if Cotto also has to fight Clottey as his mandatory? That would make Cotto-Mayweather happen in mid or late 2009. And we don't know what else could happen...Mayweather fighting Hatton again, Cotto fighting Mosley again, etc.

    Can you read?

    ---------------------------------------------
GL: Will Cotto and Margarito still fight next if victorious on Saturday night?

Bob Arum: "The fight is done, but it's more accurate to say the winner of Margarito-Cintron against Cotto next, provided Cotto beats Gomez. That's all signed contractually."

GL: So if Cintron wins he'd fight Cotto next, but he'd have to vacate the IBF title first, correct?

BA: "Yes either guy would have to vacate. We would not allow either guy to ask for another exception, nor would Marian grant it."

    ---------------------------------------------

Or do you believe a poster on this board with unknown sources is more credible than the promoter himself?

Good point about clottey, that could delay the superfight a bit if it happened, but I think peope ae trying to make this fight happen, eventually.

Respected Journalist Dan Rafael stated in yesterday's chat that the contracts were already signed for the winner of Margarito-Cintron, and he would fight Mayorga only if one suffered a bad cut/injury. He needs to fight Mosley again if Mosley gets by Judah to prove that he wasn't running the last 4 rounds.

Cotto isnt going to fight Cintron should he win the fight. The deal is and always has been cotto would fight the winner if the winner was Margo. should Cintron win he will fight Clottey next.

There is nothing good about Cotto fighting Mayorga...And people calling it ok only proves that the bashing of floyd is based in hate and not because who he is fighting is sooo bad. Truth is cotto fans as would most fans would be totally hyped for Cotto to fight Oscar, and Hatton. Could you imagine the sh*t that would fly if Floyd was rumored to be fighting Mayorga next.
