Both guys are in their late thirties and probably don't have a whisper of a chance of getting any more world title shots, but they went ALL OUT in a shockingly good war complete with lots of momentum changes. So where did it all go wrong?

ATG bad officiating by a piece of crap ref (name yet unknown). A slew of unfair point deductions from the visitor, followed by a DQ of Mohammedi when he dared to verbally challenge him with barely over a round left in the contest.

This was apparently his fourteenth third-man-in-the-ring assignment spanning twelve years. He's far more experienced in the role of judge, scoring 40 bouts.

On the comments of the YouTube feed of yesterday's fight (on Teve1's channel) there are several dozen comments in Albanian deriding the outcome, with most including the phrase "victory without merit"...and that's coming from Krasniqi fans.

Rrustem Konjuhi, a former president of the Kosovo Association of Boxing Officials, has called for a corruption investigation.

Tim Bradley vs. Jessie Vargas - ref gaffes and ends the fight ten seconds early potentially robbing Vargas of a storybook last minute stoppage.

GGG vs. Canelo I - ends in a draw courtesy of Adelaide Byrd's absurd scorecard

PBF vs. Canelo - see above, but replace Golovkin with Mayweather, draw with MD and Byrd with CJ Ross.

 

Abraham vs. Dirrell - depending on your perspective and how much faith you have in Andre's word, you could lay the lion's share of blame at the former's feet for hitting a downed opponent with flagrant intentionality, or the latter (who already had a reputation for soccer flopping) for overselling it, or both.

 

Paul Williams vs. Kermit Cintrón - yeet

Sergio Gabriel Martinez vs. Kermit Cintrón - Maravilla should have won thrice...via KO, then DQ, then on points...but left with a draw.

 

We probably won't ever have to hear the name Ajet Rreci - certainly with this notoriety he won't be getting any international assignments, nor is he likely to be working much in pinstripes in Pristina either. But the damage is done - he very well may have ruined Mohammedi's last chance at gaining enough momentum to land himself one last big payday.

A rematch somewhere not in the Balkans sounds nice, but there's always the stark reality that most judges prefer Krasniqi's sort of style to Mohammedi's anyway, so he could (and most likely would) get robbed anywhere.

 

Updated the OP. We're off to a healthy start but there are surely tons of far more recent ones escaping my caffeine addled mind at the moment.

 

Phumelele Cafu vs. Genisis Lagumbay Libranza - unexpectedly very good fight, with Libranza probably needing a KO in the 10th and not getting it but high marks for effort (and the ref may have been guilty of stalling a bit separating them after Libranza hurt Cafu, causing the latter to clinch and both men to tumble onto the mat); his consolation prize should have been a draw (my card) or narrow points loss, maybe a MD or full slate of 96-94 x3 at worst.
