Stopping 10 bums out of 18, for an up and coming guy doesn't lend credence to the guy having above average power. Even with power punchers, as soon as they step their comp level up their KO ratios go down. Russell Jr.'s KO ratio is nothing of note and he is fighting bums and journeyman so far in his career.
Russel is very technically sound. He's probably on par with Gamboa, and just above Khan, so I think if he's not the fastest, he's certainly one of the few fastest around today.
was not impressed. not as fast as adverstised amd he can't punch for ****. A beatdown waiting to happen.. :deal
I think his opponent was tougher than average. Russel was putting some real leverage into his straight lefts. Then again, Miranda's face wasn't marked up besides that small cut on his nose, either. We'll see whether it's a stylistic thing, or a natural deficit.
LMAO. He wasn't even the fastest guy on the card this Saturday. Berto has quicker hands. It's just that he doesn't throw pitter patter punches. Almost every shot he throws is with bad intentions. Russell is a pitter patter guy. Overrated so far.
Well said...:good Only the novice fans / casual fans talk about and go on & on about power or lack thereof. They don't know about nor seem to understand or even appreciate the ability for a fighter to win by simply outpointing your opponent for 12 rounds with speed, precision punching and defense. There seems to be a dying breed of real boxing fans who still appreciate this. And there far more fans who thinks that becuase a fighter did not KO someone, he therefore is a bumatsch
Please slide back to the lounge and make a "motherly love" thread or whatever other homo erotic thought that comes to mind, you're getting gayer by the second, not that there's anything wrong with that.
This lad potentially had faster hands. http://www.atlnightspots.com/2011/boy-dies-after-masturbating-42-times I don't know if he had ever considered boxing, but what a loss.
yeah Gamboa leaves his opponents completely motionless until it bangs in if you watch some slomos it looks like hes hitting a punching bag at times thats lighting speed.. Russell has great handspeed as well and the way he snaps his punches is awesome too hes certainly a good prospect but i don´t really get the hype. Doesn´t he have all kinds of glass bones and collapsed before the Olympics? I don´t really think he has the best preconditions for a great pro career..
Russell has awesome handspeed, but those blistering 8 punch combonations that Kellerman was drooling over was bordereline shoeshining.
