Just a quick question about Salvador Sanchez as I am going to watch some of his fights later on and don't know a great deal about him. Did he deserve a title shot? Did he beat top guys to get the shot or was he given a high ranking because he beat lots of stiffs? The only name I recognise from boxrec pre Danny Lopez fight is Hector Cortez (from his fight with Azumah Nelson). Any other notable's?

Juan Escobar floored and nearly stopped him in their draw.

Thnanks. Was Juan Escobar a good boxer? I know its a bit of a weird question its just that I like Sanchez and know little of his first 30 odd opponents which annoys me.

He was 8-2 around the time he fought Sanchez. But he didn't really amount to anything of great significance.Former Jr lightweight contender Frankie Balzaltar barely beat him by majority decision 5 years later, and in his later fights ( he lost his last 6 out of seven), he lost to primos ramos and Roque Montoya for the Mexican lightweight titles.Side Note, Sanchez did beat Felix Trinidad's father.
