Willie Limond rematch then ? lol So you think it could be Manny next, does that really sell as a PPV ? I just cant see that doing good enough numbers to justify making the fight. Or do you have it abroad somewhere or a stadium fight in the UK ?
After seeing that performance last night it’s amazing that Eggington and Hearn we’re taking up a potential world title fight (albeit for the wba ‘regular’ title)
No one just think its eggingtons natural reaction to a good shot that effects him. He seems to freeze up for a period. A bit like say khan who,s faculties go...or legs go when the same thing happens. A lot of criticsm for him after last night....admittedly I ve not seen loads of eggington but he usually comes in to give it his all anytime I,ve seen him anyway. His brain just shuts down for a bit when taking a good shot. That's why I was pointing towards his tactics being off. Hes a brawler that has that problem...instead of having anything to make the oppenent apprehensive to throw. They,ve got him trying to grind guys down taking one to give one back kind of approach. All the while being vulnerable to freezing up after he takes one.
The 'freezing up' is just bravado. He's probably got Barry Hearn pulling his todger in the dressing room before a fight telling him how much of a warrior he is and thinks he can brawl his way through anything. He won't get away with that at higher weight classes and it showed last night.
You think? I more think he turns it into bravado because he can't stop himself freezing up for a period. Otherwise its schoolboy tactics. I wouldn't put a boy into a boxing ring anywhere near that level that thought it was all right to give guys free shots on him like that.
The guy was 40/1 by KO and I said in the rbr I wouldn't be surprised if it happened. Wish I put a few on it
If he had a cast iron chin he would just laugh at those shots and continue fighting, instead he froze up, he was obviously dazed by those shots, he’s got a good chin but it’s by no means great
I can't tell think what else it could be. Even natural instinct dictates that the hands go up or you make some attempt to get out of harms way. But either way there's going to be some soul searching before he gets in a ring again.
Just watched the stoppage back, great ref to stop that. Just before the last barrage of punches, he is clearly not quite there, then he's looking at the floor after when he got caught flush with the last 4 or 5 punches. Agree with above, has a good chin because he doesn't come close to going over, but he obviously shuts down for a few seconds, think that's why he couldn't get his gloves up at the end. Just before and after the uppercut lands on him, if you watch it closely that's when he's kind of gone.
I hope Sam has made some decent purses and that he has invested wisely as sadly I don’t see much of a future other than a trial horse for prelim fighters. In fairness the African was no mug and was able to counter Eggington’s lead straight away , I would like to see him again but doubt that a rematch would be good for Sam. Other than matchroom signing him he maybe too dangerous to invite back.
