Sam Jones, who is this guy & how did he get into boxing???

Just watched 2 mins of some boxing show on the Boxing Social youtube page and they’ve got Jones on… he has actually just said with a straight face that Logan Paul is one of the best athletes in the world.

 

Absolute pencil of a bloke. At least everyone else on this forum seems to hate him as much as I do

Biggest melt in boxing without doubt. I go on YouTube after every fight to look at the reaction and he’s always there with his stupid fat grin talking to that other muppet Parsons. Looks like Quagmire with a stick on beard.

 

Don’t get the hate for Sam Jones. Yes he’s a bit annoying and loves the camera in front of him, but he’s very good at pushing his fighters which is his job.

I reckon he’d do a better job than Ben Shalom is. Pity for him that Probellum got shut down. He has a future as a promoter for sure.

If sky had sam jones ( who i find a dickhead ) and lee eaton as matchmaker that would be a great pairing but they were too close to DK, so they really muddied the waters.

 

Mate he’s an absolute bellend, the worst kind of person. Someone who’d sell his own Nan if it meant getting a leg up. There’s a thread on Twitter of some screenshots of him slagging loads of boxers off (Haye, Khan, Bellew etc) before he got into boxing and then when he met them he was acting like their best mate. Sums him up, a snivelling little worm.

Also it’s not a pity he lost his job at Probellum. He was more than happy to take a wage off a bloke whose income is funded by drugs and murders. He was all over Twitter with the 'Daniel is a good bloke' crap and at one point was literally harassing a female journalist who was reporting on Kinahan.

 

He trains with Kirk Gibbons who’s an absolute solid man. So hopefully he’ll become more tolerable.

Had a conversation with one of the lads from a pro gym the other day and he seems to think that single matches are sometimes insured/backed by criminals not sure how this would work but he was convinced. Also said that DK still had influence in boxing which I wasn’t surprised about.

Mentioned Sam Jones too, said he was a melt but a likeable one

 

It’s this forum, never known negativity like it…

 

He did leave his own management company to join a company set up to clean DK's money. So I can't have much sympathy for him.

I agree here.

That said, @ALN93 and others have made totally legitimate points re Probellum which are fair and balanced. His going there worked out as well as that move deserved.

The thing is, most of the criticism I see isn't about this kind of stuff.

It's mostly about him being fat, ugly, having a stupid beard, being a used car salesman, being from Derby, etc. Crap that isn't even worth reading.

One thing I will say about Jones: as a manager he represented his fighters well and got them great publicity. For Joyce vs Dubois he was Joyce's de facto promoter with Frank publicly backing DDD. Jones is a natural salesman and was superb in that role.

Compared to other polarising figures in boxing, personally I think there's far worse out there.
