Sam Langford Gives His Thoughts On Jack Johnson

Let me get this straight. Its your contention that Im wrong because my first generation direct from film transfer of this fight is old and in bad shape. But you know more because youve seen a better copy somewhere somehow? Apparently a HiDef color version, because thats the only way you are getting a better quality print of this film than what I own. And somehow, from this supposedly better quality copy (and lets get real here, you are a notorious liar who can never back it up) that Johnson was cut and bruised. Really? Dude get real. How many times do you have to get caught showing your ass before you admit you havent a clue?

I dont give two shits what Ketchel's weight was. You arent going to distract me from the point. The point was that Ketchel got his ass royally kicked by Johnson, didnt have a look-in in the fight, and was hurt so bad that he admitted that he never fully recovered by the time he died. Those are his words. HIS WORDS, not some ****ing clown posting lies on the internet 100 years later.

I couldnt care less whether Sam Langford had some of his facts right or wrong, his main point is what was central to his comment: That Langford felt Johnson was the greatest. Whether Johnson was cut or not, or broke a hand or not, does not detract from his central thesis that Johnson won as he pleased with great ease until he was an old fat hounded man.

You hate Johnson and cant deal with anyone giving him any kind of credit. Its pathetic.

For the record this is the photo Im talking about. If you dig up a higher quality version (which you no doubt will claim to have a copy of in much higher quality than anyone else, full color, with fantastic clarity) You will see that Johnson has no cuts, no bruising, and no swelling on his face. The facts dont lie. The films dont lie. YOU lie.

COOOOOOOOP OUT, why should I buy your book when you make claims you cant back up or exaggerate/spin to make your point. If you do that here then what slants/spins are contained in your book? Giving credit where credit is due, Greb was a great fighter, and you did a service by researching and putting it together, BUT, you come on here arrogantly ranting and raving and calling names, why? I am supposed to buy your book to find out if Firpo did in fact run from Greb. Who most at the time thought Greb, was tooooo darn small to fight Dempsey, but your spin Dempsey ducked Greb, from what I have seen, not so. There is loads out there from old Newspaper archives for free that keeps me occupied, so again WHY should I buy your book, you made a claim or was that a teaser to sell your book? The Firpo - Greb fight must not have been a huge story at the time that Firpo ran from Greb cos I cant even find a hint of that fight offer and how you arrived at the conclusion.

 

1 ) You won't admit Ketchel weight. I asked for it. When you don't want to go there you simply ignore. I'll give you a hint, 155, and the source is you!

2 ) Johnson floored Ketchel early twice, that is not the point. The point is a crude and overmatched 5'9" man floored him and hurt him. Johnson, even says so. Can we use his words right after the fight, or only Ketchel's? LOL. You're assertation that the knockdown punch missed is hilarious, which you have mentioned before.

3 ) This fight is pretty much worthless for trading. Everyone can see it on youtube for free. If you have the clearer film that shows Johnson unmarked despite the fact that newspaper men reporting there all see it, post it here. I'm guessing you'll balk again.

4 ) And we both know Langford's comments are wrongs. You just can't admit it here. That was my main point and I'm 100% correct.

 

Oh, Okay! Ketchel's manager said this. And that means Jack! Quoting a person is one thing, believing it without stepping on the scale another. The smarter posters know the difference.

We've all see light heavies make weight, and pretty much every one of them looks bigger and more muscled than Ketchel.

I've seen sources that list Ketchel below 5'9" tall

 

I love the comment that Mendoza quoted from Ketchel after the fight... "I'm in better shape than Johnson is" LMAO. That literally made me LOL at work.
