I read it, but dont remeber where. Didnt Jack Dempsey say that the one man he had been afraid of - it had been Sam Langford?

You often say this, yet I have never heard it before. Can you post a link as proof of this?

Yes he Dempsey said that at about the time he fought John Lester Johnson 'when Dempsey first came to NY, with John the Barber as his manager.Jack was only about 21 years old and was still a learning process, until he met Jack Kearns. Dempsey and Langford were never in their primes together as old Tham was TWELVE years older than Dempsey."Never the train shall meet"

Though Langford's chin is often overated on this forum, imo.I can only source 22 knockdowns for his career.
Please show your source for the figure of 50 you quoted.

I've read that langford's chin is actually sturdy. Now I know that johnson dropped him a couple of times.

Between the johnson loss and his loss to fulton how many times did he hit the deck? Because as far as i'm concerned that's when he should be considered as prime.

Considering the size differential he was giving up the majority of the time, against some of histories best fighters, I'd say his chin was pretty damn good.

Still looking for some confirmation about him being dropped "more than 50 times". Pretty sure that'll never happen though.
