Mcvey, of the 22 you sourced, how many were between the johnson and fulton fights?

 

Ten ,that is up to the first Fulton fight .

 

So more than half his knockdowns came after he was blind. Hmm.....:think

 

I don't know how bad his eyes were after Fulton1, certainly they were rapidly deterioating,and it is believed his last fights occurred when he was all but blind

 

That is the fight where his (I believe) optic nerve was severed by a right hand punch and he said it felt like 1000 pins were pressed into his brain. Later on in his career he would also lose some sight in his other eye if Im not mistaken.

 

No you are correct I am by no means an authority on Langford ,[or any other fighter ,]Clay Moyle can give you more definitive info.

Also considering how many fights he had and how often. Give any ATG that kind of workrate, that kind of size disparity and at that level of opposition and you will no doubt see a similar number of knockdowns on their ledgers.

 

Hey quarry, where are you ? You go ahead and make **** up (50 knockdowns) then when people pull you up on it youre nowhere to be found.

 

Rocco Marchegiano , "Archie Moore" , Ezzard Charles , "Jersey Joe Walcott" , Joe Frazier , Joe Louis & Floyd Patterson also did but at much shorter periods of time , and they were never outsized the way Langford was.

 

And with the exception of Frazier, none that I know of were blind at all.
