This post just shows just how much the sport has evolved, because that feat is simply impossible 30's era to today. Doesn't matter how great someone is, it's impossible. He was able to accomplish it before boxing started to develop into it's current status. His ATG status should be only mentioned towards his own time period(pre-1930's), which is fair and justified.
Yes, because you've analysed all of that available film on Sam Langford and can make a proper retort with a technical analysis to back it up. But I'll accept ':nut ' because your mindset is as primitive as the era of your hero's.
Correct, and is that an insult? Christ, it was 100 years ago that he was at his best, I'd bet you any fighter in history would be greatful to be recognised as the best P4P 'of their era'. I am simply saying that we need to re-classify rankings, because it's not fair to exclude modern greats from deserved higher rankings to push in 100 years ago's best. It's not like we mention ANY of the best 18th century bare knuckle champs, even the fighter(cannot remember his name), who was bare knuckle champion of all the UK for 15 years. 15 years of dominance in any sport is amazing, but we obviously recognise the difference here. The same needs to be done of the pre-1930's pugilists.
No I agree with you 100%. Its all you can say about the old guys, I do think plenty on them (not Sam) are over rated by 'experts' who can't seem to realise that they fought in such a shallow pool of fighters. But no I agree with you.
What?? it took them nearly 200 years to dance? Boxing has been around for nearly 200 years by the time Greb and Leonard complete in the sport. And nearly 40 years with gloves.
I never exclude any modern great from all time great rankings / /Welcome back Revoler and i see u've fouind urself a partner :good
He might have fought at light middle in his early 20s but he would have filled out to light heavy or beyond. This guy had a 42" chest and 18" neck.
He was the best of any generation p4p. If you disagree then who would you put forward to challenge for the honour?
This statment shows how misguided you are. The number of fighters globaly peaked in the 1920s. It has gone down since then year on year. Want to see the shallowest pool of fighters since the 18th century? Youre living in it.
