I'm not saying Peter is all that good. Arreola is just BAD. And no, he wouldn't be good if he weighed 220. That myth needs to die.
Hmm, looks like James Toney joined his search for Mr. Nex: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgecPysuGB4[/ame]
I would love to see Arreola - Peter. I would have loved to see it years ago. Arreola has as a good a chin if not better than Peter's & similar power, perhaps less in single shots but better in accumulation. Peter is not a knockout artist - he has never knocked out anyone worth a damn, ****ing cut that **** out - you guys bought into all the HBO hype. Arreola is truly not that good, but is empirically better than Peter & would beat him if they fought at any point.
Big Time, baby! He'd have probably beaten Fattyola if he wasn't horribly overweight himself and ruined by Peter. :bart
Who bought into the hype? I always thought Peter was a strong arm-puncher. But in a division dominated by cautious tacticians, Peter had his place.
I'd compare both to Maidana, or maybe Margarito. Noone ever said they have one punch power. But when Peter and Miranda were younger, they were getting guys out of there with their energy. You realize that Arreola is quite the arm puncher too. At heavyweight atleast...I'm told he was different at LHW
The funny thing is, I was extremely, outspokenly critical (borderline hateful) of both Peter and Miranda during their initial hype periods on the way up and initial declines...but I'll gladly root for them with gusto now against the next wave of douche-nozzles that replaces them (ie Arreola, Cleverly)
Me too. I generally don't really get behind a fighter until they've been beaten a time or two. Can't exactly tell you why.:huh
My criteria is that you have to show your power against a good fighter. Peter & Miranda never knocked out anyone worth a damn. I mean, Maskaev? Howard Eastman? Maidana at least has Ortiz & Cayo. Margarito has Cotto. I don't think Arreola is a massive puncher but I put him the same camp as Pavlik, heavy hands & when they are consistently able to land punches = ko or tko.
Jermain Taylor? LOATHED him when he was HBO's golden boy. By the time he was getting brutally clipped with less than a radio jingle to spare until the final bell (twice in a row)? :-( My eyes legit welled up.
