Byrd isn't even a natural heavyweight and Brock was getting backed up by the guy he last fought who is one of the weakest punchers and doesn't look like a natural heavyweight either.
It's got nothing to do with that. Chins aren't ruined in one fight. It takes years of abuse. They've simply taken a more calculated approach to dealing with these sorts of fights. And after the McCline lotto you can't blame them for playing it a little safe. Even with that you didn't see Sam doing any of the nefarious **** Waldo was doing and not doing against Ibragimov. When you are teaching a guy how to play defensively there are going to be those moments with balance. Waldo went through the same thing against Brewster. Remember how awful he looked falling all over the place? Well, it's all about balance.
I think it may have been more an issue of that fight giving Peter a false sense of his own ability to take a punch. Yes, he has a very good chin... but you can't just allow people to hit it, depending on the thought that you can take whatever he hits you with.
Well the problem is that he took punches from the guy who was considered to be the other most heavy puncher in the division and took them fine. So he didn't respect McCline's power at all. Sammy found out that night that while Waldo punches hard, he doesn't punch the hardest. So he just wanted to make sure he didn't run into the same problem again. Seriously though. This **** is ridiculous. He gets **** when he attacks guys like a wild clubbing animal. And gets more **** when he beats them on jabs and counters and defense. Haters will always be haters though I guess. I understand that logic well enough.
That's KLIT's one claim to fame in the fight...slowed down it's still only about a second. Too bad you cut it off right there, even though that puch had certain impact, KLIT was right back on the defensive. You should have showed the clip I referenced, in the interest of accuracy.
Oleg stunned Peter with some very slow motion punches, Oleg looked like it was hard to ever walk, he is old, but what was Peter's excuse? Vitali and Vlad have very long reaches, height, stamina, power, speed, defense, Peter is easy to hit. Steward can't wait to get Vlad back into the ring with Peter, good money and an easy win. Vitali can force Peter to fight him legally, Vlad can't. It is up to Vitali to make this fight. HBO could not get King or Peter to commit.
King was yelling yes behind the mic...are you deaf...??? Peter said either of them tomorrow. You had your mind made up before the bell rang...you knew it would be fixed by way of KO...
I don't know what's up with Peter's chin. In the second round he seemed a bit hurt but later on he took Maskaev's best shots and came right back with his own. His chin is just a mystery.
Wladimir destroyed Sam Peter in 2005. He is and never will be the same fighter before he fights Wlad.
Seriously, if Vitali isn't totally shot, I don't see how he could lose to Peter. The guy is basically tailormade for him.
