In an earlier post I went for the Gomez fight. And I still do. But I find it extraordinary that Sanchez beat the next three WBC titleholders who followed him. They reigned for five years after his death. And don't forget, Azumah Nelson was a last minute substitute for the undefeated Mario Miranda when he fought Sanchez. Sanchez undoubtably had to make adjustments with the change of opponents. His new opponent turned out to be an all-time great. After Sanchez beat him, Nelson wouldn't lose again until fighting Pernell Whitaker 8 years later, two divisions up. Amazing.

Definitely the Gomez fight. On this night the victors were so focused and few fighters in the mood they took into the ring would have beaten them . Sanchez rightfully can be added to this list. Louis vs Schemling 2 Frazier vs Ali 1 Duran vs Leonard 1 Hagler vs Hearns Sanchez vs Gomez
The footwork of Sanchez was subtle but kept Danny a beat behind. Sanchez wasn't running he was shifty.
Sanchez had many brilliant performances but the best would be the Lopez fights, they were a counter punching clinic, the way boxing used to look. Not this "You punch I block, I punch you block, stuff that we see from so many "world class" fighters in today's game. But still, though I love Sanchez I believe Pedroza had the speed and style to beat him. It would be a close fight. But Pedroza was extremely sharp countering himself, and his foot work was 2nd to none at that weight. I would've given a month's salary to see a fight between the two.
