Remember, Dave beat Villamein who twice beat Jake but only got the decision once (when Jake held title). My pick, Sands points in one of the great middleweight fights.
Would been a very hard fight for Jake..one he would have surely needed to come from behind to win. It's hard to definitely pick Sands here though. He beat a lot of very good fighters at the time...but Jake is a different kettle of fish to Olson, Villemain and Turpin.
Sands could definitely win against a 1950's LaMotta who had slowed down but a prime mid 40's Jake would be a more difficult task. Sands sometimes ran out of gas in the late rounds, so you can count on LaMotta to come on strong late.
