Arum is Pavlik's agent, not his boss. The fight CANNOT be signed without Pavlik's consent. For Pavlik to be surprised just suggests he's either a bit dim or playing the idiot. But that just wasn't true - he looked absolutely dried out in his last two MW fights.
Pathetic is constantly harping on Pavlik's negative comments while ignoring the comments he made BEFORE that.
You going to claim with a straight face this tourney proves who is best at 168 as Kessler says? These are THE TOP SIX guys? Sorry. Kessler is hyping this up, but it does not decide supremacy in the division. If he wins he will have more work to do aftwards. Two more belts out there and Bute is legit. He says it is not for the money, but we know it plays a big part in it. Like when AA offered to fight Sturm for free and Sturm took him up on the offer. Kessler may well be the best, but this tourney, as structured, will not prove it.
Kelly is reportedly making more to fight Williams than these guys get for all three of their first round fights combined. You call that meaningless? :huh To each their own I guess...
I understand that... Kelly did not know about the negotiations with B-Hop. He was preparing for PW. He was then told by Top Rank that the PW fight was not going to happen, and this was the only fight out there. Those words came straight from AA.
wow, i stopped reading halfway down page one. This tourney is the ****, and yet people are still bickering. I don't know what's worse:boxing or it's ignorant, hypocritical fans! "
You can't claim that anyone other than the winner of the tourney is the best at 168 at the end of it. Who else will have a strong enough resume to argue the claim? And wheres the link showing Sturm called AAs bluff about fighting for free?
The fight with Williams is more or less meaningless for his "legacy", yes! The money should be right tough...i guess that´s all that counts nowadays for Pavlik and obviously for his fans as well. That´s just sad...
Seriously though, I've seen both you and Hermit claim that Pavlik is "reportedly" making more for the Williams fight than the super six guys are making for their first three fights... a source would go a long way to change "reportedly" to "factually". Not saying your wrong, just that it's hard to believe until I see it in writing. Considering the total budget for the Super Six was announced as approximately $50 million for 12 fights, that works out to be about $4.1 million per fight. Obviously some match ups will get a bigger slice than others, and the final rounds will get more than the first three fights, but still... I doubt these guys are not fighting for "peanuts" as was claimed by Pavlik. And I would wager for their first three fights they are making substantially more than Pavlik is for the Williams fight.
