I just recently rewatched his last fight and it was actually an underrated performance. Hatton was game along with being extremely awkward. The first few rounds will tell you all you need to know. After that he just started not caring about defense since Hatton could not hurt him.

This is a joke of a fight too. Ricky Hattons defense has so many holes in it he would jump right into one of Canelos punches. The only reason Hatton had success at 140 is because he was stocky guy and he could muscle some people around. He clinches with CAnelo he is gonna get thrown around like a rag doll. Canelo has the same body type as Hatton just at 154 pounds.

Canelo TKO. Something viscious too. He can prelonge it by doing his typical clinching game but after he gets tossed around the ring he will lose his gamplan and walk into a beautiful shot. Then its nap time.

He would do better than his brother. In fact, at 150 I would favour him. He gave Floyd a hard enough fight at 147 and Alavarez is nowhere near that level, extremely overhyped.

what the hell's the deal with all the alvarez v world class (or ex ) fighter threads , he looked pretty normal against a very very average fighter in m hatton , who also gave away alot of weight . some really poor threads on here of late . if you aint got nothing good to say , then don't say nothing at all ....

Hey Bro gtfoh with that ****.... Im not comparing Canelos accomplishments to Hattons just asking opinions on a small accomplished very good man against a bigger still green but talented JM.. He didnt look that ordinary i thought he looked good .. If youve watched boxing long enough you would know that some guys just aint going nowhere(Matthew Hatton), i dont look at that as a knock on Canelo.... NOthing good to say:huh I dont get you on that one i havent trashed Ricky or Saul on this thread.

People backing Hatton are dreaming!!! Hatton wasn't even big enough at 147, thats come from his own mouth and his camp! Canelo fights at 154. Matt Hatton fights at 147 and you could see the size difference even then! what **** are you lot smoking??? Hatton gets ****ed up pretty badly in this fight.

You need to specify a weight here, bud.

Hatton is a natural 140lber and spent most of his career (and all of his prime) there - and while Canelo did have a cup of coffee at that weight he was as green as grass.

If you're talking welter, okay, but Hatton only had a tiny portion of his career there and he was decidedly not in his prime when he fought Collazo - let alone Mayweather and obviously he shouldn't have been even sanctioned verus Senchenko.

Really there was a tiny window when it could have happened, but it wouldn't have made any sense to make the fight during it. Hatton in 2007-10 was a global star and wasn't going to waste a date getting in with some young unbeaten kid still virtually unknown outside Mexico - that is the very definition of an awful risk-reward deal. By the time Canelo had made his mark, Hatton had been brutally kayoed twice and started his first retirement.
