Winner of Kirkland Molina will fight someone else to decide Alvarez's mandatory. Lara would be good because every views him as beating Williams.
That Kirkland/Angulo fight might've been fools gold. Don't get back on that Kirkland bandwaggon just yet, fellas.
Mosley is shot, but hed probably be ok with someone like Canelo whos straightforward and not what youd call slick. Without the movement and speed to contend with (which was the common attribute with Floyd, Mora and Manny) he can probably do well for a few rounds before he gasses. But I dont want to see Mosley become a stepping stone for a guy hed have battered four years ago. Alvarez is insanely overrated based on the chumps hes been beating.
Undoubtedly it doesn't mean he is the next Mike Tyson but he has proven enough to be considered a solid contender. His wins over Vera, Julio and Angulo are decent enough to suggest he can mix in a decent class even if he is never a champion. One thing is for sure though, Wolfe trains him like an animal and he uses his strength and power to fight incredibly hard. Out of 31 fights, 28 times either he is going down or you are. As a fan, you've got to love that.
If its Kirkland or Mosley, it'll be Mosley - 100%. In his prime, Mosley would tear Alvarez a new one, but now he's the perfect name for any "future superstar" to have their record. Look for Mosley to foolishley accept this fight, then also a payday with Khan late next year once he moves upto 147. Sad. :-(
No doubt. But i hope you were saying this before the Angulo fight as well. Because far too many who had him down as a 'bum' and called him 'done' have now got him destroying everything at 154. I even heard people say he would beat Martinez. You're right, Wolfe makes a big difference. She takes him to different places mentally and her methods are all he will respond to now. I like him, i just think he's still VERY vulnerable and wouldn't be shocked if he was badly stopped soon. He also has a short shelf life as a fighter.
The guy got chin checked spectacularly but I'm not your typical fickel boxing fan. I'm the sort that argues one chin failure isn't the end (Lewis, Khan, Pac, Corrales, Cotto etc) and you can improve training, defence, experience etc The fact was and still remains that if you don't chin check Kirkland then there is 12 rounds where you've got a fight on your hands. I am suprised how Kirkland went from hero to zero back to hero. Boxing fans are always misled by a war and due to their fickle nature base everything on a 'what have you done for me lately'.
It's madness and killing our sport. Craziness like HBO talking so seriously about Paul Williams retiring because he has had 2 bad fights where he has been caught by big left hands. In MMA, you take your licks, drop a level in your next fight and try to work on your flaws. In boxing, it means you are finished and should retire.
They really know how to milk fights for certain fighters- S. Mosley What next get E. Morales to jump in weight A. Margarito
